We just did the memorial to lynching and yeesh We’re definitely drinking later But aside from that. Being in close proximity to white folks (and there were way too many for comfort) was just uggggh. I just need to vent.

At one point there was a family of like seven that seemed to be almost walking with us putt putt style. Like we’d get to the next sign and a minute or so later they’d be standing there with us. Staring at the statues of the enslaved in chains, reading the texts about black deaths. I stopped and let them play through. Later a group of three white girls did the same I walked back to where I had previously been and started over.
To white people of OKP: Reading about lynching and white terrorism makes me angry in ways you can’t comprehend. I damn sure don’t want to share a space with white people while doing so.
