I've been listening to QLS from the beginning and I'm finding it devolving further and further into bullshitting for the first 15 min then oh yeah lets introduce the guest
i'm listening to hear the guest interview, not random stories about phonte's married life and quests impossible cheesesteaks lol
the beauty of QLS is the inside baseball, the nerd stuff, and the deep dives into music history, and these two eps lacked that. Having said that, I haven't exactly been on this site as regularly as I was between '99 and '09, so I appreciated the messy nostalgia.

particularly because the viewing age is older and should know a little better.
however, despite genpop being way younger and dumber, there were way more women and queer people around back then to push back on these things; in fact, I would have to credit this site with pushing me in the right direction. it was a lot of folks here that IRL I probably wouldn't have interacted with otherwise. by that I felt like there was more activity, and the activity was less stale. OKP has real comp now with better "filtering" which has ... an alternate effect
what you gain in protective measures, you lose in hearing some different POVs
and now because of the tumbleweeds, you kind of have a sort of groupthink that pushes some of those voices prone to pushing back way in the back. except you of course but it used to be a number

they saw it and were shook. then they start talking about something else.
to be fair thats how much of the convo was. someone brought something up, someone went on a tangent then someone else would interrupt and some stories didnt get finished or they would come back to them.
its unfortunate that this one was brought up and just left like that.

I am not sure what they are doing with this show now. At one time I thought it was about music for the most part. And I know they have had the one off (or 2) guest that really were not about music.
As far as the Okayplayer stuff... I was here for that time and while a lot of it was fun... some of the stuff that happened was not cool....
I will hold the rest of my comments because I dont want to get banned...
But I will say this... I learned a lot about how 15 felt about this place in those episodes...

it was so much fun back then but just like everything it had some bad things. some really bad things. it would of been a disservice if they just colored it all pretty.
the snark was part of what made okp so great but we definitely took it too far many times.
i wonder though if we are blowing okp to be more than what it was. were there other places before social media that were doing the same thing but we just werent aware of?
