John Singleton is still alive, contrary to reports Monday morning, but it does not look good.
John's publicist tells us the famed director is alive and on life support at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in L.A. We're told John is still in a medically-induced coma and is non-responsive and not getting better.
TMZ broke the story ... John suffered a stroke at Cedars 12 days ago ... this after checking himself into the hospital because of pain in one of his legs.
The "Boyz n the Hood" director has not responded to treatment and his condition is dire ... after what his mother, Shelia Ward, characterized as a major stroke.
In the middle of all of this, there's a family war over control of John's estate. Shelia has asked a judge to appoint her temporary conservator to handle his business affairs, while one of his daughters, Cleopatra, is trying to block the conservatorship, claiming Shelia is trying to fleece the estate and freeze out his 4 children.

warring over the money. Their being so foolish and selfish is completely and utterly disrespectful to that man and his legacy.
I pray that they brother pulls through and lives a healthy & full life well into old age.

i told this here when it happened. But I'll tell it again. I had a couple of run ins with him when i got my first apartment in Rancho Cucamonga. He might have had a house in the area. It happened way to frequently for it to just be coincidence. Ran into him at the movie theater. He was in the concession line ahead of me. I didnt notice him until a guy comes up and asks are you the director of boyz in the hood? John Hughes? He said nah man not me. I laughed. Guy apologizes and walks away and John Singleton looks at me and smiles and made some comment about mistaking him for a white director.
That was encounter one. The next time it was a UFC fight night. I was planning on ordering the ppv and watching at home and enjoying my day off. Wife was traveling for work and it was just me. This was before my son was born. Anyway there was a fatburger right next to my complex so I decided to walk over and grab a burger and fries and bring it back for the fights.
I get to fatburger and its packed but since i walked i had to jump in line. No time to walk back home and drive elsewhere. I wait in line and grab my number and wait. Im there chillin minding my business and this one guy is raising hell. Why the fuck is this taking so damn long? Ive been here for 30 minutes. It dont take 30 minutes to make no damn burger and fries?! He keeps asking the guys making the burgers is that my order? Is that mine? is it next? Where is my order? He was a straight asshole. Then he starts asking about the manager. I need to see a manager this is ridiculous!!! Ive been here for 30 minutes. Im not the only one. He points to another guy and says he was here before me. WTF is going on back there? A manager comes out to calm him down. Then he starts in on how long he has waited and how other customers have waited just as long. So the manager tells him his order is being worked on at the moment. Then he says that guy was here before me and the manager runs over to that other customer. Then he looks at me and says youve been here a while havent you? I said nope just got here. He says nah youve been here a while. Then when the manager finishes with the other customer he says this guy has been here for a while too. Manager comes to me and checks my order and says yours is coming up after their orders sir and apologizes for the wait. I was like shit okay. ive been waiting for all of 5 minutes but im good with that.
That was when i realized it was John Singleton acting a damn fool. I laughed and his order comes out.This motherfucker ordered like 12 combos. 12 fatburgers and 12 fries. No wonder that shit took so long fam! Good lord man. He grabbed his shit and bounced. My burger was done about a minute later and i made it back home in time for the fights. Thank you John Hughes...Singleton.
