But that’s my come up. And yeah. Only thing is I’m not in love with the color. It’s blue.

In response to Reply # 18

but they don’t have the silver specs that make it shiny.

and it’s not the Matte colors because they don’t have any gloss at all.

Maybe it’s the pastel color wheel but the key is they still have a gloss to them instead of that matte color that doesn’t reflect anything.

Colors like this

He was like "What kinda bike sir?"
I said "BMW R1200RT"
He said "Silver color, and what's the tag #?"
I was like "Wait...how'd you know it was silver?"
He said "All BMW bikes are silver aren't they??"
lol...

have you always preferred/driven smaller cars?

i wonder how far away we are from everyone wanting a small car again. gas has been climbing. economy is supposedly doing well but if wages dont increase or if we do go into a recession folks will be hurting.

i sure love the efficiency of may car. wish i could had gone with an electric but this was a good step.

I think too often we plan our entire lives around outliers rather than norms.
How often is there more than 1 person in my car? Once a week, MAYBE. My wife is small my kid is smaller, I’m not a big man.
It can fit me, my bicycle, and suitcases, and it’s not dangerously small ... I’m good.

I did want something that wasn’t so low
I’ve had a Scion tC for years. Now and it’s not as easy to get into as it used to be.

it was definitely nice getting into the traverse.

i rode in the back seat and the passenger seat of my coworkers camaro. horrible lol i dont think i could ever own something like that. getting into the elantra was an adjustment.

getting that traverse was definitely a switch in my mind frame. it was what we needed then but it still felt wasteful.

now im even feeling guilty about having room for 4 when i only need space for two like 5% of the time lol

Lost the goddamn extra key fob. I drive on the weekends and my wife drives daily. I had the keys in my pocket, went on a date with her, then she went her way and I went my way to do my own thing. While heading home I did the usual pocket-check for the keys and found nothing.

I lose shit all the time due to...a lot of reasons but I always lean on my personal truth that nothing is ever really lost. I kept a cool head betting the keys would show up again...its been 3 fucking weeks, no extra key.

The dealership wants 500 fucking dollars to replace the key

I'm trying to practice saving money and I keep having these dumb ass emergencies popping up to take my money so I took control of the situation and found out that with a bit of searching a replacement fob could be had for 150...doing even more searching I found a refurb fob for 90. Now I just gotta get it and have the fucking thing reprogrammed + key cutting which could bring the entire cost down to 200.

I'm also getting a tile/key tracker so I dont fuck it up again.

This shit is the worst.

car repair expenses...
I've pulled in most of the invoices for the VW Toaureg over the past 6 years...
so far my repair tally is at around $14,746...
Some of that was covered by extended warranty, trying to sus out the spreadsheet to isolate those costs separately. Also want to do a Year-To-Date cell...

Very heartbreaking and eyeopening....
Paid $28K for the vehicle in 2012.
It's dumb what we spend on cars...

I paid 25k for a new Scion in 2008.
Take in reduced gas. And most of the drive train is covered under extended warranty.
I’m good for right now.

Literally EVERY FRIEND who's owned a European car tells me how much they LOVE it and how they'll never by a Japanese car, but I've noticed their cars are in the shop a lot.

Like A LOT.

They'll even say they are spending thousands on maintenance but they still love the cars.

Meanwhile everyone I know who owns a Japanese car says the repair costs are low - and if they aren't - they get rid of the car because they see it as a problem that shouldn't cost that much to maintain.

Stuck making these two VWs do what they do...
Both 2008 models...
I will say they are a joy to operate for the most part. I don't know that the newer models have that same groove.... The loaners they've provided over the years sure haven't left me wishing for a newer model VW

i was going to buy a volvo xc90 used until i took it into a mechanic and he basically looked at me and said it needed substantial work and would become a money pit in short order. it's a shame because it rode beautifully.

And you will know MY JACKET IS GOLD when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

but it is boring as heck. Luxurious and comfy, and ABSOLUTELY reliable, but it’s like driving around in a living room. I REALLY want a BMW or a Porsche, but if I can make any logic out of that kinda purchase when every mechanic tells says how stupid it is and when all of my friends with German cars constantly have them in the shop. Even when they are under warranty, it’s a huge time waster and annoyance.

Dont do it Soulfunk! I drove lexus vehicles for 10 plus years. Then i got into an Audi S5. I loved that car, exciting, luxurious, sexy, and i was plowing through the snow in my coupe because of the Quattro system. HOWEVER, at about 96,000 miles or so i began experiencing some electrical and other mechanical issues. I wanted to keep the whip so i put some money into it, but then the issues recurred so i finally got rid of it and went back to lexus. I do find the Lex to be boring, but reliable.
Im looking at Teslas now. Does anyone have opinions on Teslas. I want a used Model S...2015-2018

Knock on wood I've owned:

1994 Toyta Camry: sold it with 187k miles. Last I knew it was at 210k and still kicking. Even at 187k I had zero maintenance issues in 6+ years of ownership.

2003 Nissan Maxima: sold it with 130k miles, not a single maintenance issue

2009 Acura Tsx: sold with 110k miles, zero maintenance issues

2012 Infiniti G37x: just sold it with 70k mileage, zero maintenance issues

Now I own an Infiniti Q50 with, again, no maintenance issues to date (only 6 months but still).

I've been very lucky, to be sure. But also ... Japanese cars. They just perform. And keep performing. Seemingly forever.

Meanwhile, like you, my friends with Audis, Mercedes, BMWs, etc. ... spend thousands and thousands of dollars over the years just so they'll keep driving. Couldn't be me.

I would want to get rid of that car after the second major repair. But it's not feasible to just toss out a car, so you gotta put another $2000 into it.

Luckily I've had nothing but super reliable Japanese cars all my life. The only major repair I ever needed was a busted radiator that was so simple to fix that a mechanically incompetent person like me could do myself.

So I'm loyal to the Japanese forever.

ive pretty much just had to pay for oil changes on my last two cars. a chevy and a hyundai. the hyundai did have repairs that were needed but covered under warranty. didnt have to get anything on the traverse.

even if you factor in lights and windshield wipers i dont think i spent more than $300 per year on maintenance. i think i did have to replace the battery on both of them so that was a pain. tires on the sonata so that will bump it up some but avg per year couldnt had been much more than $300. wait i also did the breaks lol still dont think it went over $400 per year over 4/5 yrs. thats like $2,000 total for the sonata.

i cant imagine $14k in 6 yrs.

the last car i had to spend a lot in maintenance was an accord that i got at a junk yard so yeah lol.

the payments on this newest one. and I'm not interested in going in the whole "lease over and over" BS. I gotta drop a gang of Geld to drop the monthly cost and I don't want to be on miles restriction.

cars cost too much man.
the only reason I went the route I did is because I got too used to having Android Auto/CarPlay. on a slightly older car I couldn't swap out stereos.

Yes, I'm mad. Let's move on.

i'm looking for a mid-sized SUV. like you i see some nice depreciation on luxury cars, but i dunno how much i like these GLA benzs that keep popping up in the mid 20s. they look nice, but not much umph to them for the money.

also looking at stuff that isn't sexy but got good ratings like a hyundai santa fe (i rented one and drove it up north, practical but dull all around) or more likely a kia sorento (the v6 awd joint, saw a 2019 for 20K flat with 20K miles and full warranty still).

i also saw some CLA benz sedans i kinda liked but kinda over budget for me as i have to help my pops out with a new car also in the near future.

And you will know MY JACKET IS GOLD when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

I'm pretty happy with it. only issue I've had is a tire that I needed to get plugged 2 weeks ago.

I'm 6'2 and it has plenty of room in the front seats. My daughter is 5'9 or so and has good room in the back seat when all 4 of us are in the car.

Y'all buy those labels, I was born supreme
