LOS ANGELES — The Grammy-nominated rapper Nipsey Hussle was killed in a shooting outside his clothing store in Los Angeles, multiple law enforcement sources said. Two other men were in serious condition, and a suspect remained at large.
No further information was immediately available about the shooting at Marathon Clothing on Slauson Avenue in South Los Angeles. But just a couple of hours before the shooting, Hussle, 33, whose real name was Ermias Ashgedom, had tweeted, "Having strong enemies is a blessing."
Hussle's debut studio album, "Victory Lap" was nominated for Best Rap Album at this year's Grammy Awards.
Hussle had long been associated with the Rollin 60s Neighborhood Crips, one of Los Angeles' largest street gangs, which he publicly acknowledged in a 2010 interview with Complex magazine.

Dude seemed to have truly made a positive change in his life and was doing really good things in his community. I wept for the man. I wept for Nipsey's family and friends. I wept for his community. I just wept...
Can't explain why this tragic event is bothering me as much as it is. I began following Nip's movement a few years ago right when his Slauson Boy 2 mixtape dropped. His movement was one that I could get behind as dude never appeared to front like he was super hard or anything other than himself.
So, from afar, I've watched him grow and could see that there were many more doors about to open for him especially after he & Lauren London appeared in GQ together. The cat, along with Roc Nation reps, were to meet with officials in LA today to discuss gang violence and, more than likely, other issues. Who knows what more this young brother was gonna do? His killing has, according to social media, hurt a ton of people from East to West and from North to South.
Either way, it's crazy that I didn't feel this way when cats, of my own generation, were gunned down. Maybe I'm just burned out. The killings in our communities, across the country, are overwhelming to me right now. Without even being in th emidst of it all,I wonder if PTSD has set in.
Gonna miss what this brother was bringing to the table and not being able to see him carry out all of his plans.

I think because besides his talent, Nip was just an inspiration to everyone through his moves and was positioning himself to be a leader on multiple fronts. Whether Gary V or the Breakfast Club, I never heard Nip speak in an interview without talking about who and what he's learned from and inspiring others along their own path. Even if you weren't a fan of the music, I think his humble hustle, articulateness, and endearing nature made him more relatable across hip-hop generations than say a Hov or Lil Whoever. He was someone we wanted to get behind and see succeed.

Nipsey Hussle was in the middle of a good deed right before he was gunned down in front of his store ... where he was trying to help out an old friend who just got out of prison.
Sources connected to Nipsey tell TMZ ... the reason he was at his Marathon Clothing store Sunday is because he was trying to hook up his ex-con pal with some new gear so he could look good before meeting up with his own family and friends later in the day.
We're told Nipsey's friend had just walked out of the pen after 20 years behind bars.
Our sources say Nipsey didn't notify his team or his primary security guard he'd be going to the store solo -- it was a spur of the moment thing ... we're told no one in his camp was aware he'd left home.
Nipsey's friend is one of the other two people who were injured in Sunday's shooting -- we're told the third guy was the friend's nephew, who drove him to Marathon Clothing.
We broke the story ... a man walked up on Nipsey and co. and fired multiple rounds before fleeing in a waiting car. The shooter circled back to shoot Nipsey multiple times, not to mention kicking him in the head before leaving. Nipsey died from his wounds.
Police have identified 29-year-old Eric Holder as the suspected gunman -- who they finally brought into custody Tuesday after a 2-day manhunt.
The LAPD believes Holder shot Nipsey over a personal dispute. Our sources tell us Nipsey shunned the guy after he tried approaching him for a convo, because he pegged him for a snitch. Holder allegedly returned shortly thereafter with a gun and opened fire.

My cousin got killed cause he was in a club and saw a lady he knew get harassed by guy who wouldn't take no for an answer, so he stepped in told the guy to leave her be, no fight started, my cousin didn't threaten him or anything other to just to leave her be and go about his way.
So later on after my cousin & his friend left the club to go to Waffle House to eat, the guy who he had the interaction with at the club followed my cousin to the Waffle House and while he was outside the guy end up shooting my cousin multiple times killing him.
Find out the guy who shot my cousin was also currently AWOL and wasn't even suppose to be in this state at all, and of course wasn't suppose to have any guns & firearm in his possession at the time cause of a pending military court case; also the the two friends who he was hanging with were the ones who were driving and egged the guy on about the club situation.
This goes to show, how ignorant our (black) people still are and getting your ego hurt in a club that most people probably would've forgotten about the next day, is still needs to be taught that killing someone over dumb shit isn't the answer and only hurts your own people & family.

We found out tonight that Angel Boutte goes by Angelique Smith now, and her son Sam was Samiel, and three years later she had another son named Ermias.

Boutte is a name that is very common to Southwestern Louisiana. There are tons of folks in Cali who hail from Louisiana or whose families originated there.
I’ve got a relative, in LA, who seems to have been very close with Nipsey. Not just music together but a true friendship from what I can tell.
Back to your story though, it’s amazing what life reveals when we pay attention to connected dots or connecting them.

wanted them to catch him and all that but i never cared about the trial. saw recently that his brother didnt really care either, though apparently his mom went to court fairly regularly. interesting to see how theyre dealing with it.
his legacy is undeniable at this point and cast wide, but its one of those situations where the tragedy of it scales. like i get soo proud when i think about that nigga and then it just makes me super sad. havent been able to separate the joy of watching his impact from the sadness quite yet.
