right now...something like 2 out of every 3 general election campaign events are in 6 states and 95% of events are only in 12 states.
popular vote would also have the benefit (at least in theory) of dampening extremism/polarization.
imagine if republicans knew they had to win over the entire country to stop the trend of them losing 6 of the last 7 popular votes. that could stop our rightward political/judicial drift in its tracks (either by awarding the dem popular vote winner the oval office or making the republican have to dash to middle/left to survive).
as far as the white death stuff...dem candidates usually bring it up as an explanation for vehement resistant to demographic change in this country (and how it plays out politically). yangs comment came off like a borderline dogwhistle to white identitarians who fear the demise of their civilization/culture.

the one argument i can kind of see for elec college is that it honors that each state is independent but i dont really know how that is important in 2019. are we the UNITED states or not?
i think at minimum elec votes should be divided up in states based on popular vote in each state. if the GOP candidate got 55% of votes in a state he gets 55% of the elec votes for that state. i know theres some states that do this. i know that still would be unfair though and is only a slight improvement over what we have.
2016 proved that the electoral college is pointless. it seems the whole purpose of it was to prevent someone like trump taking office and yet here we are.

I like the UBS policy he has laid out. I think he has a really good sense of what is about to occur regarding automation. But I DO know that he has had a real boost from the Joe Rogan Bros podcast crowd and my fear is he tilts too much in that way to appease that base

the whole disavowment of "identity politics" is a kind of stealth (i.e. WHITE) identity politics.
I don't know how the Bernie-or-Busters think about Yang but I can see why some who are fans can "Friendship Hands" the MAGA boys, simply because of this.

As much as calls of 'identity politics' by the white mean to downplay so many of the concerns of people who gravitate to the left, groups like identity evropa and the proud boys are 100% about identity politics.
i think the white statistics he cites here and the calls against identity politics would make him a successful trojan horse against those left-sympathetic / racially sensitive white voters, but i could be totally off in my assessment.
