My first reaction is that's dumb. How can you blame Chelsea Clinton for the massacare in New Zeland.
Then I read a couple of statements by the girl explaining that she wasn't really looking for a viral moment but didn't want Chelsea Clinton to be able to use the vigil for PR purposes when she has made statements that can be used against Muslims. I thought that was fair.
Then I kept reading statements and resurfaced tweets by the girl (uses the N word, F word and saying alot of dumb shit) and I am more leaning, yeah she's a dumb kid and this is all around a bad look.

as much as not wanting her to come into a space where people were grieving to sort of make a public appearance after her (bad) tweets that contributed to the Islamophobic pile-on Ilhan Omar is still dealing with. And in the video (unless she was just being stoic) it almost seemed like Chelsea kinda understood that.
Not saying these students are wonderful people personally (re, the homophobic tweets) and the snapping thing is extremely corny. But I don't think they were wrong to state why they felt uncomfortable with her being there.

I don't think Chelsea may have been intentionally malicious but the pushback is warranted. especially because of her role of passively letting Islamophobia slide

obviously a much different situation, but i see the same dynamic of a stunt being misplaced and counter-productive
i'm not a fan of any of this yell at people in public shit. and it has nothing to do with who it is, because some of these people deserve far worse than some annoying person yelling at them, i just don't find any of it helpful.
all that said, managing to get republicans to defend chelsea clinton is no small feat, so big ups to her on that i guess.

But it's tricky, because when she put it out there, Don Jr and Jeanine Pirro and all the other ghouls seized on it as someone who shared their views. It gave them a respectable center-left person they could point to and say "see, even she thinks like us." And that gives them cover to keep implying she's not an American.
Again, this might not have been her intent, but when you give the bigots an inch, they'll try and take the whole thing. Best to not give them anything, and to immediately backtrack if you unintentionally do so.
