Their label is pushing this project hard and getting a decent buzz in the NPR type communities. Good to see that the album isn't just banjo pickin' (which of course I would like) but proudly embraces setting the traditional influences in a contemporary setting.

Haven't kept up with solo stuff (or any new music, for the most part). Remember imcvspl said he took his kids to see 'em and it was clear Rhiannon was going to be a STAR. I can see it happening, organic growth
Very cool that you know her.
She's got one of the best sounding banjos out there, that one she's posing with in thepromo shots, so deep and rich. I'd get one of those minstrel banjos if I could afford it (and was half decent).
Glad she went back to her roots. Saw the promo vid a month ago maybe and was just thinking about them yesterday while listen to matana. Can't wait to dig into this.

show was for a band from the UK called Idles.. fun stuff.. .but anyway this womans dad was telling me about her.. I checked her out the next day and she has some chops imo.. I think you'd like it d... here:
I got to review her records; tend to prefer the old-timey stuff to the singer-songwriter stuff but at her best it's a good blend of the two.
I actually want to redo her already-excellent version of Pretty Pink and upping the implied funk factor. Live version not quite as groovy as the studio but just a great arrangement for that tune
