"When your S.O. is into hocus pocus tarot cards astrology blah blah bla"

I don't believe in none of that shit
your facts are backwards (c)

She's heavy into all that garbage
reads like 3 horoscopes a day
tarot cards
some pendulum shit swingin on top of your hand
palm reading

all that shit is trash

Last night we were having dinner with a friend of hers
They started doing the pendulum shit
"you're gonna have 2 kids!"
I excused myself and went to the room
Growing more and more heated as they kept going back and forth

I had to calm down as I realized people are going to do what they feel no matter what
She's not my child, I can't tell her don't do that shit

So now I'm torn
Yes I feel strongly about it
because I have family members heavy into Santeria
and that's how they started
it's always an "innocent" fun game:
"let's read tarot cards!" "let's play ouija!" "let me read your palm!"
I don't want no parts of any hocus pocus bullshit
I keep my distance from my Santero family for that reason

So whatever, I calmed down but now I'm thinking this may be a red flag

Kidding. But seriously, women are just more prone to be into all that. As long as it's kept more less harmless, you should try to just ignore it.

If it starts to become a serious issue where it's threatening your relationship because she's sacraficing chickens while you trying to sleep then you may want to bounce, probably a little before that.

>"let's read tarot cards!" "let's play ouija!"

LEAVE

why waste your time and her time

if you can't see the mutual benefit in at least humoring or inquiring further or even debating in a healthy manner

why go through this?

Does this feel more like a "my SO loves this TV show/food/song that I can't stand" or does it feel like "this runs completely counter to my beliefs/spirituality?"

If it's the former, it's probably fine, but you should break up if it's the latter, because that's not changing.

I told her before last night I wasn't into that AT ALL
when we first got together she was all here's your horoscope!
I said "I'm good thanks"
that led into why don't I believe in horoscopes/astrology?
told her it's all fake make believe and no one really knows the future

couple months went by and I saw some tarot cards on her bed one day
I was like "yeah not my thing either"
she was all "it's just for fun bla bla bla"
I dropped it, figured it ain't that serious

Couple days ago we went out to eat
and I told her why I specifically don't believe in any of it
(bad experiences with family members, witnessed first hand how they went down that path from "fun games" to "full on Santero dressed in all white doing hardcore rituals")

Then last night

sounds like it's not fun for you in any way.

Might have to be a dealbreaker. See if you can find someone who feels more like you do and she can find someone who is either into it or at least isn't bothered by it.

2. Some guy out there wants to know her sign
3. Pick up a hobby of your own to piss her off
4. Look at the real psychological reasons people seek answers about the unknown / try to control things that can't be controlled
5. Keep a witchcraft-free zone in your man-cave where god doesn't exist and the facts reign supreme, tell her she can only come in to serve you food.
6. Call everything she reads Fake News
7. Shutdown the government until she stops believing in the supernatural

I used to have weird little shrines and burn candles and shit and lightweight believe in astrology and all that in my 20s, but similar to you, my wife actually has a slight fear / uneasiness / disbelief thing going on about anything supernatural. It's been phased out of my life and I started to take more control of my own destiny and think more clearly about the world. Maybe she can change like I did.

I don't believe in none of that shit now, but once in a while I will forward her something about our sign compatibility if it's spot on, just for kicks.

I would recommend checking out The Astrology of Personality by Dane Rudhyar. Not because it will convert you to the beauty of tarot cards or whatever, but to give you an appreciation between astrology and science and philosophy. I'm talking more about how the questions they are asking are similar to or as rigorous as the ones philosophers and scientists ask about how we interpret different patterns in our personality types and confer meaning to them alongside other patterns observed in the material world (e.g. constellations and such).

and to me it's about the same as the people i know who are into Christianity, Isam or Judaism, or whatever religion. People trying to divine meaning in their life through a spirituality that makes sense to them.

There are people who are over the top in any of those - who are annoying as fawk. But then there's some chill folks who use it to balance their life.

Do you want a non-religious significant other? or is it just the new-agey tarot type stuff that is extra annoying.

All that to say that it's perfectly fair if you're not down with that, cuz you have to be on the same page with spiritual/religious differences in a relationship. You don't have to believe the same stuff, but you at least have to agree to respect each others space in that department - even if it does get annoying at times.

...it *is* a red flag, but it really depends on how you are as a person.

1. If you don't care and let her do her thing and treat it as her hobby then it's probably wont be an issue in terms of your relationship.

2. If it bothers you and you show it then it might get worse ("see? you chart cays that you...")

3. If you go full-Common and get into the shit yourself she's gonna end up leaving YOU

I do wonder what he did with those clothes, crystals and beads.

Met Common at the MMM and he gave me a hard dap, had on Timbs and Camo gear

Few years later dude had on crochet pants and gave me the softest dap ever.. and had rhinestones on his shirt.

Back when I lived in Philly She tried to get a producer to pull his dick out at the studio in front of a bunch of people. He was like FOH. Common said: why ain’t you do it? I woulda done it dog!!!

Prolly the exact moment she got him.

Tarot is based on the 54 deck of cards Clubs, Hearts, Spades, Diamonds

.

Both sciences are used by financial, military and government institutions.

Get a natal chart done and see if you still believe it's fake.

Matter of fact do you believe in the 7 days(planets/luminaries) of the week?

Why are weekdays named after planets, sun and moon?

Astrology is completely unscientific.
You ain't even saying shit about cards, but that shit is completely fake too.
And what's worst is how people try to say because that shit uses words like "planets" that it's science.

Why do credit/financial records fall in correspondence with Saturn 7 year cycles?

The US has a natal chart it is in a Pluto return Capricorn(governmental structure, big corporations, politicians, and highly public figures) in Pluto(deep psychological wounds, hidden power, fundamental core truth, transformation(death and regeneration)

Why did the 2008 financial collapse in the USA coorespond with Pluto transiting into Cap where it will stay until 2024?

a corresponding action with it.

Look up USA natal chart. It is debated about the rising sign either gemini or Sag.

In fact here is another pattern you can verify via astrology. The highest percentage of Africans imported into the USA mainland was during Pluto transiting Pisces. I already gave you what Pluto corresponds with look up what Pisces in its negative aspects relates to.

101. "pattern formation is allegorical"
In response to Reply # 40

because you assume that those patterns are going to hold in the future. So if you assume the sun as something that will rise every morning, not only are you imputing allegorical significance to the sun but also to yourself (as a being that experiences the rising of the sun as a new day). These are perennial problems in philosophy relating to causation vs. probability and falsifiability. Making patterns is easy, but thinking about causation outside of this framework is way more difficult (if not impossible once extrapolated outside of scientific experiments).

https://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:BaT6ct6irFIJ:https://bblais.github.io/will-the-sun-rise-tomorrow.html+&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us

Now I am not really arguing for the predictive validity of astrology. More so reiterating a point someone else made above, which is that humans will try to establish certain patterns and then try to capitalize on the perception of those patterns. Moreover, astrology has introduced sophisticated methods of tracking these patterns in relation to the movement of different objects in the sky: including a lot of math and geometry to name a few.

Prove the bullshit you're saying. Cite one credible source that can confirm any of that nonsense.

Meanwhile, actual science, has long concluded that astrology is hogwash.
https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2003/aug/17/20030817-105449-9384r/

LONDON — Scientists have once and for all debunked astrology’s central claim — that our human characteristics are molded by the influence of the sun, moon and planets at the time of our birth — in the most thorough scientific study ever conducted on the subject.

For several decades, researchers tracked more than 2,000 people — most of them born within minutes of each other. According to astrology, the subjects should have had very similar traits.

The babies were originally recruited as part of a medical study begun in London in 1958 into how the circumstances of birth can affect future health. More than 2,000 babies born in early March that year were registered, and their development was monitored at regular intervals.

Researchers looked at more than 100 different characteristics, including occupation, anxiety levels, marital status, aggressiveness, sociability, IQ levels and ability in art, sports, mathematics and reading — all of which astrologers claim can be gauged from birth charts.

The scientists failed to find any evidence of similarities between the “time twins,” however. They reported in the current issue of the Journal of Consciousness Studies: “The test conditions could hardly have been more conducive to success … but the results are uniformly negative.”

On a personal note do a natal chart your mars and 8th house placement show your earliest SERIOUS injuries(burns, bruises, cuts, stabs, abrasions, broken bones)

Mars in 1st house head/face mars in 2 neck/ shoulders

My earliest major injury was a serious burn to my arm. What house/ mars placement would that be?

. Those scientist didn't prove anything. And just because you are born on the same day means nothing you have inner planets and luminaries which move faster (ascendant signs) than outer planets influencing the entire chart.

I stated a fact every 7 years for most US statea (4 in some states) your credit report is revised where old accounts that are defaulted or negative with the exception of student loans are wiped off your credit report.

Why do Saturn 7 year(quarterly) cycles coorespond with major life structuring events 7, 14, 21, 28, 35, 42, 49 etc etc etc

chill I'm listening to "Float On" for stock tips lol

All of the life-structuring moments during my life happened at different ages than that. But sure, if you were so inclined, you could also manufacture a theoretical template based on the planet Saturn instead of looking at:

1. subjective experience from people's lives
2. ages at which more commonly accepted life-structuring moments happen

sciences? They hijacked them from indigenous cultures like they do everything else.

I mean we just passed one of the biggest astrological holidays of the year aka Christmas or Winter Solstice.

Why does Easter change and come after the the first Full moon of the spring equinox?

Why are calenders based on celestial cycles anyway? What is the origin of the term calender?

with Saturn has everything to do with it.

With business credit you have a net 30 cycle roughly cooresponding with a moon cycle 28.5 days.

But what do I know I mean month is short for Moon.

74. ""month" is 5 letters long, but it's 'short' for 4 letter long "moon""
In response to Reply # 72

I can't believe this is a real conversation right now.
Yes, the days of the share a connection with the planets. And yes, many commonly celebrated holidays are actual based on ASTRONOMICAL occurrences. But ASTROLOGY and ASTROLOGY are very different things. And because they use the same language "Saturn" for example, dumb people get them confused. But the fact that Thursday was named for Thor, who is equivalent to Jupiter in the Roman tradition, in and of itself does not mean much of anything, really. It certainly does not prove that in the eighth house of Neptune, I'll cut my finger on the Friday after i get my tax return. The fact that you cannot separate these things shows that your teachers, your schools, your libraries, your parents, your neighborhood, and the Public Broadcast System have failed you miserably.

it's kinda sad

I mean I don't want to assume you are Eurasian

Astronomy and Astrology are joint sciences only when they became westernized where they divided.

Month is a GERMAN WORD for moon.

JUST LIKE THE DAYS of the week all has ASTRONOMICAL/ ASTROLOGICAL CORRESPONDING QUALITIES ASSOCIATED WITH them even in a watered down thrown off Gregorian/roman calendar.

Today is Mercury day according to the popular western calendar.

but you don't have to believe in anything.

In response to Reply # 97

Old English mōna, of Germanic origin; related to Dutch maan and German Mond, also to month, from an Indo-European root shared by Latin mensis and Greek mēn ‘month’, and also Latin metiri ‘to measure’ (the moon being used to measure time).

our ancestors. It was the only time-keeping device they could rely on. There are infinite ways to correlate certain celestial cycles (which are observable and scientific) to life on earth, as it is a part of those cycles. HOWEVER the issue is assigning human meaning, emotions, qualites, to those same movements. This is anthropomorphism of space, fam.

Good article:
"In ancient times, astronomy and astrology were closely linked. But they are two separate disciplines. Eylene Pirez, an astrophysicist, explains the difference quite clearly in a YouTube video: Astronomy is considered science; it’s the study of all celestial bodies in the universe. Astrology is a belief that everything that happens in space has a direct correlation to human events."

form thus anthropomorphism.

Do you really think ancient people thought the sun in what is currently labeled July was a Scarab beetle...

They used the nature around them to break down these symbols to the simplest form but at the same time those correlations were not any stretch of the imagination they made MUNDANE COMMON SENSE.

With that said the most enduring method of measuring "time" has been the cycle of stars moons and planets and the patterns that relate to them on Earth.

Astronomy and astrology were not separated until a certain group of neophytes everyone seems to idolize and look to as authority on these sciences older than them came around and made a mess of everything.

You just keep making claims that are based on nothing.
"Major life structuring events at 7, 14, 21, 28, 35..."
ACCORDING TO WHO?! ACCORDING TO WHAT?! Prove that "major life structuring events" happen at those ages. Show data. Show a study. If you can't then you're just making shit up and pretending they're facts.

"Why is it that after 7 years your credit is wiped except when it isn't"
You're making claims that aren't even consistent within themselves. Show something the proves that revision of your credit after 7 years is tied to "Saturn." If you can't then you're just making shit up and pretending it's a fact.

And so far, I've given a link referencing a scientific study. You've typed some words that I'm supposed to take as true because you type them.

Anti-intellectualism is the fucking worst.

Ask indigenous societies the separation of astronomy and astrology.

There are astronomical/astrological documents older than the mindset of the people you are parroting.(yt folks)

She'll fall back on the cards/pendulums/etc when I'm around and I'll fall back on the militancy (basically be tolerant of her beliefs)

We'll see how it goes moving forward
