it is okay. Doesn't matter whether it is drugs or music. Once you start to go beyond that then it is time to reign it in whether you get locked up for dealin' or have to apologize for bringing that negative energy/poison to an outside group of people.
When will we learn that all of the negative energy we put into our music and imagery has damaging effects on our communities? Keeps the negative cycle that plagues us in motion. The shit's real and it should be obvious the way other communities shut shit down and don't stand for it. We are the only ones who consistently denigrate ourselves. There is power in numbers, unity, and love for your people. There has to be other ways of making good music and getting rich that isn't at the expense of your own people.
Which is why the conscious era of hip hop was so dope. Artists were rewarded for bringing the fight to them whether it was cops or white supremacy. Era was very short...hope one day that scene can come back around in a major way.

also, rappers talking about stereotypical things like violence is reporting a fraction of reality. by this logic, to me the stereotype that Jewish people are good with money (meant as a compliment/something to aspire towards) isnt offensive. but we live in a time where online outrage is more on trend than it's ever been, so everyone is looking for a reason
it's hard to point a finger at where rappers should apologize. probably blatant anti-semitism and gay bashing aren't the only things that cant get a pass under "this is just how men talk", "this is what's happening in society" or "it was just shock and awe"
