So far today I have received a total of 10 calls, plus a text message. I never answer them, but today I've answered each one.
Last week at a policy conference, a fellow attendee kept interrupting the FCC expert to complain about the TCPA's fine structure. Apparently there's a $500 fine consumers can collect per unsolicited call. This guy was complaining about his company marketing efforts being hindered by, "all those jobless people in Florida, opening new phone lines in an effort to take more calls, then getting the fine payments directly or hopping on class actions and living in luxury." I received a robocall during the time it took him to complain that he can't make robo calls.
sometimes i just let it keep ringing. i dont have my voicemail activated so no idea if they leave voicemails. sometimes i will answer but not say anything. most times they hang up after a while without saying anything. sometimes it is straight up robocall.

Same here.
>how do i collect my $500??? And this is the most important thing. I’m all about collecting that coin if it can be collected. LOL

The dumb shit is, the numbers they call from are just slightly off from my own number. Like, is seeing a number close to mine supposed to make me answer the phone?
Today, I got one that helped me walk away from a musty-ass coworker.

Once I got a call from my own number. Got a call from a “000000000” number. Often got ones with local numbers. But also lots of Cali and Nevada area codes.
I downloaded a caller ID and blocking app called “Hiya” and they have gone down to maybe 1-2 a week. Most days I don’t get any.

I may be collecting on that $500 penalty in 2019. I likely get about 3 a day, M-F. 2-3 over the weekend.
Doing some research to see if I have a legit claim because I'd be looking at about a $500K if valid.
In any event, I also found out this in my research of your post:
"It is a TSR violation to call any consumer who has asked not to be called again (the “entity-specific Do Not Call” provision). A telemarketer may not call a consumer who previously has asked not to receive any more calls from or on behalf of a particular seller or charitable organization. It also is a TSR violation for a seller that has been asked by a consumer not to call again to cause a telemarketer to call that consumer. Sellers and telemarketers are responsible for maintaining their individual Do Not Call lists of consumers who have asked not to receive calls placed by, or on behalf of, a particular seller. Calling a consumer who has asked not to be called potentially exposes a seller and telemarketer to a civil penalty of $41,484 for each violation."
Sometime in the last 5 yrs, I've had to repeat to a few companies that I already informed them I didn't want to be contacted. And not different departments either. If this should happen again, I'm documenting everything and filing a claim. Could use an extra $41K at any point. lol
And this is helpful too:
"The use of prerecorded message telemarketing, where a sales pitch begins with or is made entirely by a prerecorded message, violates the TSR because the telemarketer is not connecting the call to a sales representative within two seconds of the person’s completed greeting."
