"I'm in the market for a car, I need help."

A station wagon would be ideal for what I need & the BMW X1 is the closest I've been able to find considering, certified used, low mileage, and price.

Do you have any other suggestions?
Also, if I find a car 1000 miles away, is it ill-advised to complete the process remotely, paying and having the vehicle shipped?

... are you definitely buying certified pre-owned ? Either that or new are the only ways I'd consider buying a car without having test-driven or seen the car myself, because you'd have some protection. But I'd still be weary of buying a used car I hadn't driven or seen myself.

the rx is a dumb looking car but they last for-fucking-ever and it seems like once you join the club you are in for life. I met a woman who was on her third one and she drove all of them to 200k

Unless you have a dog crate or a 40” woofer I don’t see the point of a wagon.

Does this include a small gas backup engine (hybrid), or is this full-electric?

I don't have the discipline (or a driveway) to be plugging a car in, so that gas tank is crucial for me, even if it's a backup.

She loves small cars, and wanted something crossover-y ... so she did some research and fell in love with Buick and this small SUV in particular so after a brief search we ended up getting her one. I won't buy American cars for myself so I was skeptical at first, but I must say, it's a great little car. Buick really stepped their game up in recent years. It drives v well and is really nice looking.

a European made car, originally made for the European market with an american brand badge on it.
That's important because European market cars often have higher end base specification (performance, fit & finishes, amenities, etc.)
They are generally tuned for higher performance too...not muscle car status...but sportier acceleration, and handling.
I've never driven a TourX...but the reviews have been favorable on the websites that I actually believe:

I used to live with a master technician, and when I asked him what I should do when looking for cars, he said, "First look for a Honda, and second look for a Honda." They are exceptionally well-made for the price-- they last way longer than many way less affordable cars.

I won't get on my #TeamLease soapbox as someone who's had some bad experienced with certified used cars in the past, but suffice it to say, anyone who ever asks me about car advice, I *always* say Honda. I've driven Hondas the last... 5ish years? And I drive a *ton* for work, and I've yet to have any serious mechanical issue. They're the best.

They stopped making them in 2015, but I think they cost like $9-$13k used.

Cons: Not great mileage.
Pros: Roomy, wagon-ish, quiet interior, comfortable ride.

An AWD version is available.

If you can get one with a review camera (not standard equipment until 2012 it's worth the added cost.

1. They'll never stop contacting you. If you use them, be ready to purchase a car. The same logic goes for dealerships in general.

2. If you get a quote via TrueCar, just know that dealerships can still get around that too. A lot of people go to dealerships with the TrueCar quote like, "But TrueCar said...." and it almost never works out for them. TrueCar is more of a tool to help you negotiate your price better. Most dealerships will argue that the TrueCar quote applies to a specific car not all within a model.

The tip I always give people are the following:

-The car's invoice is anywhere from 6-10K under the sticker.
-Dealerships usually put extras in the car to inflate the price (tint, pinstriping, etc.) They will try to charge you an extra $1000 for this.
-Monthly payments are important but the bottom line is more important.
-Seek financing from your bank or credit union first. They usually treat you better than outside financiers.

- XC70: 2015 and 2016 models are showing up certified used. I could have had one (they had a 2015 with the drivetrain I wanted, the Drive-E FWD at the dealer I visited when mine got totaled). Prices aren't too ridiculous for the most part. It's like their S80, but a wagon, and lifted with body cladding. Solid ride. Infotainment is a lil behind, but usable for most people. these 2 were the last 2 model years so they're pretty solid. Probably your best bet.

- V60: a much smaller car, about the size of a Civic like the S60 on which its based. REALLY liked this car, and I was thinking of one back in 2014 when I test drove. that backseat ain't for adults, especially if a tall driver (i.e. me) is behind the wheel. cargo room ain't as good as VW's Golf Sportwagen IMO.

- V90: still new, but you might be able to find a 2017 off lease or a 2018 loaner/courtesy that's certified. it's the all new platform and drivetrains. non-Cross Country models are RARE because you had to order them direct from Volvo. Some dealers ordered as part of their allotment.

I was lucky AF when I got mine. Charleston (SC) is near where the new factory is located, and thus they're a flagship dealer, so they had multiple V90s, new, off lease, CC and even non-CC.

if you see one in your dealer you're gonna see a BUUUULLLLLSHIT asking price.

(though there's the EXACT one I really wanted at a dealer in the ATL area for like $10K under the starting price)

next year there will be a new V60 which, will resemble all other Volvos of current day, except it will be much larger than the V60 it replaces.

Yes, I'm mad. Let's move on.

When I was on the search for my last car I found one at a ridiculous price considering the mileage and my dad talked me out of it after we found out it was a flood title. I don't know or recall the exact risks you're taking on but saving that type of $$ would be nice. I'm talking it was several thousand dollars cheaper than what other similar cars were going for.

that's as plain as I can put it. Water is not friendly to cars...in any way. You will be buying a discounted headache.

Is this only for current model year cars or do older used cars get discounted too?

I got a car notlong ago and was thinking I could’ve waited. But I got a 2016. Not sure if year sales would matter.

even if you can't buy on Dec 31st, the last day of any month is good...there are monthly bonuses and yearly bonuses...therefore your potential deal is hypothetically exponentially better the later you buy in the year.
