We kinda felt like a project to some of the parents of the friends our daughter made. These are the buckiest of Buckhead white folk, but some of the kids are cool as shit.

My wife became the "project" of one of the moms.

"You guys should join our church!"
"I'm going to a Christmas party that this super wealthy black fmaily is throwing..you should come with me"
"I'm going to find you a job!"

While I became the "funny, cool guy everybody wanted to hang out with"

In the end it didn't mean shit. But go...don't deny his chance with friends...but don't get too drunk, and don't be too honest, and don't talk politics, and don't talk bad about Aaron Rodgers, and say you don't keep up with the NBA.

It can never hurt to know people. It could come in handy some time.

You don't have to be cool with them, especially if they're wack. But just knowing them could be helpful. You never know.

Best kid's birthday party I went to had cheese and pepperoni pizza for the kids, and assorted gourmet brick oven pies and beer for the adults.

The worst had NO food whatsoever except for cake, ice cream, goody bags of candy and sodas. All the parents were looking at each other like, "seriously?" By the end it was nothing but hungry, pissed off parents standing around, and a literal mosh pit of 6 year-olds amped up on sugar.

I dont think i never invited anyone from school to my bday parties. I think i was invited to maybe 1 in all of elementary schools and I had a lot of friends. Now my son gets 10 invites a year. But thankfully because of sports we can only really do 2 or 3.

from school. i did, however, attend some birthday parties where it seemed like everyone was invited if i remember correctly. i went to a smaller lutheran school in elementary, so not a bigger public school where there were new kids in your class every year. it was pretty much the same kids for five years. we still never invited all of them to my birthday.

and thankfully we haven't been in any school or class where everyone gets invited to everyone's birthday. in fact, there hasn't been anyone from his current elementary school, save one kid, who has ever been interacted with outside of school (neighbors excluded). that one kid also goes to the same after school sitter so he and my dude are actual friends.

New job?
Stock tip?
Mo money?

It was a different time but back in my day but all my people who went to private schools got hooked up but their parents ain’t get shit besides pity for being in a lower tax bracket.

Those parents will take your kid on vacation or pay their tuition if money is tight tho...

One girl told me she didn’t have tuition for college one semester and her boyfriends daddy gave her a check on the spot at dinner.

my father-in-law is plugged into real estate, he got one of my kids a job doing tear-downs. (his group would invest in a property, remodel it, make it a 'display home' and sell it).

My son could've gone into construction, he could've stuck under his grandad's armpit and learned how the $$ game works (he stayed pushing a Benz, living in $$$$ communities), my FIL is also a numbers man and an avid gambler. but he didn't take advantage. he got him jobs at fancy hotels, all types of 'setups for greater setups'.

My F.I.L. is white, and typical for that career path, he was an asshole.

That's just life. I'm an asshole, too. pick your poison.
