"I don’t get how people claim China isn’t socialist"

swiped snippet from https://apple.news/AYQD2DNwVThOhYdHM93ehYg

“The hardworking state employees at China's film bureau are forever manning various regulatory levers — including which imported films they allow into the market, on what release date and against which competition — to ensure that Chinese films outperform the Hollywood interlopers overall, but also that top-line market growth for the year remains robust.”

China is a country where the government completely controls every major industry and micromanages virtually all of it, yet because China’s material wealth undercuts the propaganda that free markets (instead of heavily regulated state-directed economies) are the best working economies, I keep running into people who hilariously claim that China isn’t a socialist country. If that’s you, stop lying to yourself. LOL

Peace,

Spirit (Alan)

And using that as an example is proof most have no idea what socialism is other than a big bad to be afraid of.

I thought it was government mandated redistribution of wealth/resources. I think that does require what you describe (government control of resources) but you can have government control of resources that isn't socialism but just plain authoritarianism.
