Not putting this on Freeman, because I don't know anything about his case(s).

But that small bit of power is still power. The same as a manager at a company using their power to try and get pussy from the secretaries.

I recognize that at the core of this, this is a problem relating to men and our current culture

I wonder how much shit famous men are able to get away with simply because they are famous men and I wonder if its a case where these famous men get lost in the sauce of fame - they see something, they take it and its taken without fuss. It's a position of entitlement and privilege.

Like, Morgan lifting up the girls skirt...how many times in his life did that just end with him getting action?

Its the taking and expectation that shit should just come to them that I wonder about.

Anyway, I'm just wondering if these dudes have been running through life thinking everything is up for the taking and getting away with it all until they don't. It's like being drunk on the power.

Alrighty, flame me up for this.

Famous or not, pretty sure he wasn't pulling that shit out in the streets in an uncontrolled environment. At his business' office, the set, his mansion, a friend's mansion, etc. Anywhere he had power and felt in control.

At some random bar? He's just some old dude that still young enough to get his jaw tapped.

The same with most of these dudes. The CEO tries to treat the young secretaries like his personal harem because it's *his* environment. Ironically, it's the fact that it's *their* environment which makes it wrong. Same dude scared to make eye contact with people on the street.

I have no sympathy for these men.

though the fame does amplify the power by making more people aware of it.

Managers at Starbucks get away with similar things on a smaller scale... it's just only in their Starbucks, among the staff they have power over.

But yeah, having power over someone can be corrupting over time in two ways... you can become numb to it and think your subordinates actually love everything about you (even the cruddy stuff you should be called out on)... or you can be aware of your power and actively abuse it.

I think many of these guys stay in scenario 1 where they think their shit doesn't stink because nobody around them will tell them. Scenario 2 is where you get into criminal behavior.

Being in the presence of a celebrity was eventful, it was something to cherish. It conferred a certain level of power in social situations. And of course, that power was used and abused.

So many crazy news stories involving celebs just "went away". No such thing now, nothing ever goes away now, even if the victim moves past it.

Celebs can't dare mistreat anyone that they don't have on their payroll, as that person can go online within an hour with their story.

I'm rambling, but I can imagine a lot of people who were popping in the late 80's early 90's are nervously waiting for the other shoe to drop.

like it really happened. And I think Bill Cosby and Morgan Freeman both are filthy to say the least, but that whole "Bill didn't try to buy NBC it's a conspiracy theory" bit is easily disproven.

We need to take these people down, but we also need to pay heed to accurate information as well.

it seemed like such a weird thing to say about a pregnant woman even when reading it in the story

watching this clip she's being crazy dishonest here

that's not to say his accusations from other women are false, but for her specifically, I have a hard time giving her claims of what wasn't on camera credit if this is what she's presenting as proof.

which doesn't really say much. they're discussing pregnancy, and baby bumps specifically, with a woman who is pregnant, so it's natural for someone to look in that direction.

assuming she's saying 'boy do i wish i was there' means he wishes he was inisde her... like a baby, which is such an odd comment in itself to be interpreted that way... and she claims he said that line to again to her off camera, but he coincidentally happens to say that again randomly, while Caine is telling an embarrassing story? it's not really adding up.

she didn't hear me or get what I was implying and said she wasnt going to have another one.

which is why the timing of this doesn't jive with her saying he also made the same 'wish i was there' comment off camera to her. way too coincidental.

In response to Reply # 35

A Black male doesn't even have to do anything wrong to be made the face of sexual misconduct. We even have members of our own community who cheer their downfall with zero evidence, and try to hide their anti-Black male vendetta behind claims of holding "our" community accountable.
This accusation comes out at the same time Weinstein is cuffed for multiple allegations, and we have people IN HERE talking about a rumor about Freeman that even the supposed victim denied and taking that as confirmation of his "creepiness." Folks (including Black men) will believe anything about Black men, because white patriarchy trains us to do so... and trains us to look past all the evil that white folks do and have done. It's just sad and self-defeating.

Also I think you're referring to me saying the supposed victim denied the "granddaughter girlfriend" allegation. That's not just him doing the denying. Like I said tho, if anyone has any info to prove that they're *both* lying, then I'm open to hearing it.
Overall nobody has "100% proof" of anything and isn't claiming to from what I see. I do see people in here saying "I believe it w/o testimony", implying it's believable b/c he's an elderly black man (which is dangerous as hell since most of us aren't far from being 'old black men' if we aren't already), saying he got a 'pass' for an allegation, and YOU saying you're "sure" the granddaughter/girlfriend thing was true. So again, what makes you sure?

52. "2 women asked CNN to retract their statements and the 3rd"
In response to Reply # 0

hasn't responded to critics who say she reached with that clip.

https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/morgan-freemans-lawyer-demands-cnn-retract-sexual-harassment-story-1115316

Morgan Freeman's lawyer has asked CNN to retract its report about sexual misconduct allegations against the actor.

The 10-page legal letter, obtained by The Hollywood Reporter (below), is addressed to Jeff Zucker, president of CNN, and claims the story has defamed and "inflicted serious injury" on Freeman's reputation and career.

"At a minimum, CNN immediately needs to issue a retraction and apologize to Mr. Freeman through the same channels, and with the same level of attention, that it used to unjustly attack him on May 24," reads the letter from attorney Robert M. Schwartz. "CNN also needs to retract the portions of the story that concern Lori McCreary and apologize to her for defaming and injuring her."

Freeman's lawyer says they have begun an investigation into the story and shared some of the findings of their review:

Of the three people CNN identified as being a "victim," the first, CNN’s own Chloe Melas, had no reasonable basis to have interpreted what Mr. Freeman said or did at the Going In Style interview last year as having been directed at her or as any form of harassment. The videotape confirms that his statement had nothing to do with her and was not harassing. And an independent third party, the Warner Bros. Human Resources Department, investigated her claim and concluded that it was not supported by the facts.

The second person CNN identified, Tyra Martin, has gone on record twice since CNN published the article to state that CNN misrepresented what she said to CNN and that Mr. Freeman did not harass her.

The third person CNN identified, Lori McCreary, told CNN that Mr. Freeman never harassed her. And as to CNN’s gratuitous sideswipe at Ms. McCreary herself, yet another independent party investigated the claim when CNN raised it, and found it to be meritless.

Ms. Melas baited and prodded supposed “witnesses” to say bad things about Mr. Freeman and tried to get them to confirm her bias against him. Thus, no reader of the article can have any confidence that any of the anonymous sources, which make up the balance of CNN’s article, can be relied upon at all.

Morgan Freeman Claims He "Did Not Create Unsafe Work Environments" in New Statement
In the May 24 CNN report, eight women accused Freeman of sexual misconduct, describing multiple incidents of the actor's alleged inappropriate behavior throughout his career. In all, 16 people spoke to the news outlet as part of the investigation; eight witnesses and eight who claim to be victims. CNN entertainment reporter Chloe Melas — who co-authored the article with An Phung — was the only victim who spoke on the record.

As previosuly reported by THR, Freeman's Revelations co-founder McCreary was on the receiving end of controversial commentary by Freeman during a 2016 Produced By panel, when the actor commented about McCreary's outfit. "She wants to be thought of as serious," he said in front of McCreary, who was on the panel. "But you can't get away from the short dresses."

At the time, a source told THR that McCreary "did not visibly react to the comment," but a former Revelations executive told CNN in the report that McCreary was upset. "I tried to console her and she was clearly upset, and I think she was surprised and found it hurtful and embarrassing," the person said. "She was devastated."

Freeman released two statements in the wake of allegations that he harassed female journalists and staffers at his production company. Consequences were swift after the report; Vancouver's public transporation system and Visa dropped marketing campaigns with the actor while SAG-AFTRA said it was reconsidering the actor's Lifetime Achievement Award.

"Anyone who knows me or has worked with me knows I am not someone who would intentionally offend or knowingly make anyone feel uneasy. I apologize to anyone who felt uncomfortable or disrespected — that was never my intent," Freeman said in his initial statement Thursday.

Over the weekend, the actor apologized and issued the below lengthier reply:

I am devastated that 80 years of my life is at risk of being undermined, in the blink of an eye, by Thursday’s media reports.

All victims of assault and harassment deserve to be heard. And we need to listen to them. But it is not right to equate horrific incidents of sexual assault with misplaced compliments or humor.

I admit that I am someone who feels a need to try to make women — and men — feel appreciated and at ease around me. As a part of that, I would often try to joke with and compliment women, in what I thought was a light-hearted and humorous way.

Clearly I was not always coming across the way I intended. And that is why I apologized Thursday and will continue to apologize to anyone I might have upset, however unintentionally.

But I also want to be clear: I did not create unsafe work environments. I did not assault women. I did not offer employment or advancement in exchange for sex. Any suggestion that I did so is completely false.

—Morgan Freeman

THR has reached out to CNN for comment. Read the full letter from Freeman's lawyer below.
