When there are social issues and when society needs healing from a traumatic event it has been music that has brought people closer. Music even though it has had it’s issues seems to heal the soul of most people no matter what the genre is.

Sports are great when your team wins. When the Cavs won the chip, all of NE Ohio came together. To me there are too many controlling factors in sports to bring people together. The whole kneeling/sitting for the flag has torn more people apart over bring people together. What the black athlete had to go through to get into the white arenas was more divisive than good.

I don’t think it matters who the artist is. I believe that it’s more about the message and the climate at the time.

But you can have 2 people who hate everything about each other but once they find out they love the same team? Smh... so weird.

TBH the fact that you're even a mod here fits squarely within Jag's narrative of OK-sanctioned aggression, bullying, and toxicity. *shrug*

The same can be said regarding music. If two people like the same artists or genre, they will sit around for hours discussing catalogs.

Jay-Z fans don't give a fuck about other Jay-Z fans.

Meanwhile, strangers will team up to fight & defend other strangers just because they are wearing the same team's jersey.

fuck, I forget where I read this

it was something like a dude and some friends decided to try some crack on a lark (they were already semi heavy drug users)
and the guy said after the first hit his first thought was "I wanna smoke all of this shit" and the second thought was "How do I get rid of all these people...so that I can smoke all of this shit?"

Since the age old R&B vs. Rock hard split in radio and record stores

There is still a ton of racial flocking within various genres of music

some people get UNCOMFORTABLE when you don't enjoy the music you're 'supposed' to. Look at you funny when you turn up at 'their' shows, say you're getting your pass revoked for listening to white people music etc.

Some music festivals like Coachella embracing Beyonce and Global Citizens featuring both rap and rock acts have unity in mind, but most scenes are pretty one dimensional, ethnically

I definitely think that if you’re talking about blacks going to rock shows or jazz shows, then I don’t think that you get those looks. Country music I kinda get. For white folks they attend everything... rap, r & b, jazz, and blues. They be mad comfortable at the concert. I saw this nonsense at a Roots show that had Dead Prez performing. They knew all of the lyrics.

Ask Bryan Stow.

https://www.mercurynews.com/2017/06/25/a-visit-from-bryan-stow-lifts-the-giants-spirits/

I seriously think sports can mobile mobs of people more quickly than music can.

I think it's very related to tribalism and religion.

Guess what - none of those 3 have a grip on me - but I can see all 3 around manipulating people around me at all times.
