essentially, Bolton's excuse for ducking Vietnam was that it wasn't worth his life to serve in a war liberals didn't want to win, but if we had been down with nuking the shit out of Asia, then that would have been a different story.
given that the previous administrations have been seen as rational internationalists and yet have also been totally cool with thousands of innocent casualties from drone strikes and maybe millions of refugees from the wars on drugs/terror, i'm really concerned about how far a monster like bolton would take it.

there have been tensions between them going back to when pence was maneuvering behind the scenes to set up his own political operation and trump nixed it.
