I recently upgraded to a Pro-Ject Debut III turntable which for all purposes is an entry level turntable itself. I figured I could upgrade the platter and cartridge and get as much out of that turntable as I would spending a ridiculous amount on a "high quality" turntable.

I guess my question is would a better platter and cartridge really make a noticeable difference or would it be diminishing value? And if so what cartridge would you recommend?
