His approval rating is 40% without the backlash from the Texas and Puerto Rico situations going on right now. His approval rating can easily reach 20% by next January before the inevitable annual Obamacare repeal attempt and tax reform attempts. By midterm elections you're looking at the possibility of a 17 percent approval rating. If Dems can flip enough seats to derail his agenda the 2020 candidate has an even better chance than Hilary of winning the popular vote.

Hilary won by five million votes with 53 percent of people not voting in the election with the two most unpopular candidates in US history. What happens when 100 percent of all the people Trump has pissed off over a four year stretch vote in unison to kick him out? How many million votes could Trump lose by?

she interviewed voters about Trump.

Man, ain't no way this dude loses. Damn near every white male over 30 is a Trump supporter. Then you had the Asian American older lady caping for him. You just see the older white dude's face and know right off the bat that he loves some Trump for telling it like it is.

These white folks are ANGRY cause they feel it slipping away. How dare they take some heat for America being what it is right now? They are taking their country back and ain't shit we can do about it.

They don't care if he passes anything, the fact that he trolls on twitter and says shit in words they use at their dinner table is enough for them.

the better he appears to them.

Nobody wants to feel like they made a mistake. And the more people point out that mistake, the stronger you want to hold on to your initial belief

Keep in mind, he only won because of a few thousand votes in Wisconsin and Michigan.

A person without the anti-Clinton industrial complex behind them can win those votes

The idea goes something like "you only married that white man because these trash Black men left you no choice", or something. I don't think black men would or will care, either.

...when she was the DA in San Francisco. A lot of it is bullshit (like rumors that she was literally in bed with the Mayor at the time) but there's been some speculation that she got into some unseemly shit. There was speculation that whatever happened was preventing her from going after the Attorney General position under Obama after Eric Holder stepped down.

Regardless, I'd vote for her.

This was definitely a calculated move to lather up a pretty deflated base who has had nothing to claim recently.

Trump needs a new Crooked Hillary for him and his base to rally around, and he's searching for it.
Schumer/Pelosi doesn't really work. McConnell isn't a good villain to get excited about either.
But anti-patriotic black millionaires? Bingo!

when Breitbart called him amnesty don, he tried to throw the base some meat by bothsidesing nazis again. then he miscalculated the alabama thing by supporting the establishment guy instead of the wingnut he was supposed to.

but yeah, he found it. rich blacks who don't know their place, or in "im NOT racist. some of my best friends.." terms, ungrateful spoiled millionaires who hate this country. i mean, what about chicago??

which is the first time i've heard him be critical of trump since the primaries. and he's waaaaaay right on almost everything nationally. shocked me at 6 a.m.

he was correcting callers about employee rights and freedom of speech.

ultimately theyll find a way to take his side just to not be on the side of liberals.

Right wing radio tends to champion Ted Cruz more

I assume some of those "I'm a strict constitutionalist" types are trying to be consistent

this one just got on his old man nerves for some reason. i hope it won't be the last time.

i was so shocked. dude was really pissed off about it. he was sitting next to a major trump apologist in the booth too and wouldn't let him talk. and his fill in host is full of shit.

i'll be real interested to see what some of his other regular guests say. business owners and retired vets and local politicians usually rotate throughout the week.

i still have some old friends and people i see at work who i know just don't get the protests. i'm trying to find an angle....because if this weekend doesn't make sense to them, i'm not sure where to go.

We're in the fist years of a dictatorship.

If there is an election, it's because the opponent is weak and had no real chances of winning. If it is someone he can actually lose to, then it will either be postponed out of claims of fraudulence or simply not have one. Stranger things have happened and there will be more to come.

A female, Harvard professor, who believes that big business and the banks need to be seriously reigned in?

The right sees her as a female Bernie, and they'd energize behind Trump or whoever is the GOP candidate. It would be more of a dogfight.

I think a less polarizing Dem walks in.

It could be a mistake thinking only Trump-like candidates (bombastic, everyman (lmao) with "wild" ideas) can win because it worked before.

The winds can change quick

I'm not saying it isn't a new normal. I'm just that's too easy a conclusion to jump to. Like winning at black jack two hands in a row and thinking you can't lose

With a Clinton as the candidate.

It seemed like you are of the mind that a "less polarizing dem" wouldn't work because settling for that type of middle of the road won't beat Trump. (If I misinterpreted your cosign, then I apologize)

I'm saying 2016 may have been special.

This article touches on what I'm getting at.
The part where Warren is morphing into a more traditional candidate (joined Senate armed services committee, cozying up with big bankers, etc), while Sanders is sticking with 2016 routines.

While Bernie' s thing might have worked in 2016, who's to say that would continue in 2020?

i'm still not convinced he makes it to 2020

-The Knicks’ coaching search still includes a lone frontrunner, Kurt Rambis, whose qualifications for the position include a strong relationship with Jackson and a willingness to take the job.

how many presidents have had to constantly play so hard towards 'their base' just to maintain a sub-40 approval rating? i mean...people were saying if he publicly fell out with steve bannon then a lot of his base would desert him. could you imagine someone saying that about obama and valerie jarrett? or george bush and karl rove? lol.

every special election candidate he has endorsed has underperformed and even the primary candidate he endorsed in ga-6 got blown out 1st round. the primary candidate he held a rally for in alabama is bout to get beat as well.

the media is fixated on people who still support trump so it seems like dude is teflon and singularly has 'the base' hypnotized. he is neither a king nor a king maker. he is just a culture war figurehead who knows how to weaponize the grievances of a radical republican base (with the mindless support of an evangelical coalition who would get behind whoever the repub prez is). republicans primed their base and fomented distrust of even their own politicians and trump just happened to come along at the right time to fill that void.

Democrats cant get a policy or candidate together and really haven't shown much progress or understanding from the 2016 massacre

(Nationally at least. Looks like they are at least trying to help on some grassroots races)

I expect mueller to get the ball rolling around Christmas tho and that will run all 2018 into midterms. At that point it just depends on if enough gop seats are up for reelection, to flip a few and start #dotardimpeachmentparty
