"Dorothy Combs Morrison & hippies, "Oh Happy Day," Big Sur, 1969."

Little feel-good gospel rock to start off the weekend.

Just finally got around to watching Celebration at Big Sur recently... kind of funny since I've had a bootleg of the CSNY set for 30+ years... the movie's not great despite a few good moments (including another killer gospel track from Morrison and the Combs Sisters). This is clearly the highlight though... funny I had never heard of Dorothy Morrison before watching this and only after looking it up realized she was the original lead vocalist on the hit version from the Edwin Hawkins Singers. Anyhow
-Joni Mitchell seemingly getting the Holy Ghost in the audience is probably my favorite moment
-Joan Baez starting the jam up still happy to play an appropriate role here
-John Sebastian (who I love) looking like a Muppet in the background
-the terrific bass part, which I think is by Greg Reeves (Motown/CSNY)
-some sweet electric guitar riffs near the end, but I dunno who's playing
-Dorothy not even singing into the mic by the end
-should I do it one more time y'all?!?

Dig it. Have a great wkd.
