"Poll question: Whats "B/black" business?"

spin off from a post mentioning Tidal.

Jay Z owns Tidal a Norwegian company in...Norway.
The staff there is...Norwegian.

Is it a black business?

Is a black owned bank still a black business if most of the people who work there are not black?

Is a company like Walker & Company still a black business?

Poll result (8 votes)
black owned (5 votes)Vote
black owned AND operated (3 votes)Vote

If it's black owned but most of the money goes to white communities or individuals than the value of it being black owned seems moot

TBH the fact that you're even a mod here fits squarely within Jag's narrative of OK-sanctioned aggression, bullying, and toxicity. *shrug*

but for me a white business is just a business.
much like theres no need for a WET because 99% of the channels are for white people.

black businesses trade on that identity of being a black business. so i dont consider it unreasonable to expect black faces up and down the ranks. otherwise its just a normal business, except this time a black person making the calls.

exactly

Just having a black head isn't actually necessarily providing anything or contributing to the idea of black enterprise, imo.

A grocery chain has 3 stores that are all equidistant from us. A black one, a latino one and a brand new one in the white part of town.

My girl likes the white one, which I get because it is really nice, up-to-date and modern. It's bigger and offers more things. I don't mind hitting it occasionally but I didn't want to bail on the black and latin stores.

She understood the argument but then made a point: Nearly all the employees at the white store are black & latin. So by shopping there, aren't we supporting their employment?

So when thinking of black business, I think there are varying degrees of importance between ownership, employees and customers.

I don't believe ownership is determined by how much he/she gives back. How do you weigh that anyway? By the number of blacks hired? If anything, when I see that picture of Tidal staff, I say to myself...those people "work" for "him" JAy's the master, lol

There's always going to be people who say you're not doing enough tho...

Plus. We don't live in world that allows us to separate ourselves. It's not much that we can "own" to do it. Unless, we're willing to give up comforts - it's not possible for us to own anything.. in totality. Even the shit we own, we're still gonna be like, "it's not enough".

Unconditionally I support those whom reach their goals because I know it wasn't easy.
