I get dehydrated really quickly and water is the only thing that holds.

Pop don't work.

Juice don't work.

Only water stays down for a long time.

nothing super scientific about it...just figure as a 225lb dude, that was a good goal. A lot of times it ends drinking a lot more, anyway.

Was easier to track when I had used my Mammoth Mug more at the gym and house but I switch over to the biggest Swell bottle. I first bought a 1 gallon Corckicle bottle matte black but it looked like an urn so I returned it

I don't eat no meat, no dairy, no sweets
Only ripe vegetables, fresh fruit and whole wheat
I'm from the old school, my household smell like soul food
Curried falafel, barbecued tofu
No fish though, no candy bars, no cigarettes
Only ganja and fresh-squeezed juice from oranges
Exercising daily to stay healthy
And I rarely drink water out the tap, cause it's filthy

Lentil soup is mental fruit
And ginger root is good for the yout'
Fresh veg-e-table with dem ital stew
Sweet yam fries with the green calalloo
Careful how you season and prepare your foods
Cause you don't wanna lose vitamins and minerals
And that's the jewel
Life brings life, it's valuable
So I eat what comes from the ground, it's natural
Let your food be your medicine
No Excedrin
Strictly herb, generate in the sun, cause I got melanin

And drink water, eight glasses a day
'Cause that's what they say

They say you are what you eat, so I strive to be healthy
My goal in life is not to be rich or wealthy
Cause true wealth comes from good health, and wise ways
We got to start taking better care of ourselves

Who's trying to use a britta to eliminate toxins though?
If I had an emergency need for water I have one of those safety straws.
I just want something to clean up a little bit of the sink and fountain water at work.

Try to make sure I get through 1l during work... then as far through another litre afterward.

If I don't do the litre at work, I REALLY feel it. Have had a running debate with my father about how much dehydration affects you for the last few years.... he refuses to believe that if he drank more he'd be less fucking argumentative. I can feel it every single day... I'm more likely to have conflict at work, more likely to have conflict with my partner, more likely to get stressed and more likely to say "fuck it" when presented with an obstacle.

Drink up.

Let's say you are a 150 pound man who is very active, you may very well need more than 75 ounces of water. Let's say you are a 300 pound man who sits on his ass all day, 150 ounces of water is a lot and will just flush out of you while pissing. So I have always side-eyed that a bit.

I try to drink three liters of water a day, four when I am real active. I go through spurts where I will lift four times a week and hoop almost every day, then I will drink shitloads of water, probably four liters a day and sometimes more. When I end up working a lot and can't do nearly as much, I will cut it to two liters minimum, three if I can.

And you will know MY JACKET IS GOLD when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

21. "i drink about 2L a day"
In response to Reply # 0

.5L right after i wake up, and another .5L while i'm working out.

then I carry around a 1L bottle which i drink throughout the day. mostly because i'm intermittent fasting and don't eat before lunch so i just drink lemon water.

and I may have more at dinner, but depends on if i'm thirsty or not.

but fruits and vegetables also have water in them as well when you eat them. Not saying drinking water is bad for you or folks should cut back, just something else to keep in mind for the folks in this thread.

Is it possible to drink too much water?
I typically drink far more than the recommended six to eight glasses per day, and feel dehydrated if I adhere to the guidelines. I have no underlying medical conditions, such as diabetes, that would lead to increased thirst.

Absolutely, and if you do, you can develop a dangerous condition called hyponatremia, or water intoxication.

Under normal conditions, the body beautifully maintains its fluid balance. Lose fluids through sweating, for instance, and your body responds with the feeling of thirst. You drink. If you swallow more liquid than needed just then, your body typically responds by excreting the excess through urination.

But should you consume so much fluid that your body can’t easily rid itself of the surplus, you dilute sodium levels in your blood. Osmosis then draws water from the blood into body cells to equalize sodium levels, and those cells swell. At that point, you have hyponatremia. If the cellular bloating occurs in the brain, it can be fatal.

Until about 20 years ago, hyponatremia was extremely uncommon among healthy people. But then several marathon runners died from hyponatremia. In general, they had been middle- or back-of-the-pack, slower runners. They did not sweat much. But they drank plenty of water, trying to ensure that they would be well hydrated.

Today, most knowledgeable coaches and exercise experts warn athletes not to overdrink. “You should drink only when you need to, when you are actually thirsty,” said Dr. James Winger, a professor of family medicine at Loyola University Medical Center, who has studied the hydration habits of athletes.

If you’re not sure whether you’re drinking too much or too little during exercise, try weighing yourself before and after a lengthy workout, experts advise. If you have lost more than about 3 or 4 percent of your body weight, you’re probably flirting with dehydration and might want to drink a bit more next time. But if you have gained weight or your fingers seem swollen and your rings tight, you’re most likely drinking too much and should moderate intake.

Most important, listen to your body’s signals, Dr. Winger said. “Thirst is a very reliable indicator,” he said, of whether and how much to drink.
