and they didn't soak it in buttermilk first.
i have only heard of it from white ppl up north.
if it's a Black Southern thing i may have just missed it.
but...in thinking on it...considering soul food's roots in poverty...who had the $ to just throw away milk like that? let some chicken soak in it and then just toss it? and who was marinating chicken like that? who had the technology to soak up chicken in an icebox overnight or whatever?
seems like some shit that might've been cooked up by/for white Southerners. but i dunno.
