It's funny I've never really been one for cheesy flavoured love songs... but I've always liked Barry Manilow. He's one of the few artists of this type I would've gone to see in concert.

His songs seem to span the whole gamut of emotions when it comes to love and relationships, with all the highs and lows. He's a talented artist.

Also would put 'Could It Be Magic' and 'I Write The Songs' in my top three.

Love Biz version of it too...

You take the blue pill, the story ends. You wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill, you stay in Wonderland, and I show you how deep the rabbit hole goes.

Like if you injected Bobby Caldwell with Billy Joel's DNA and then a little effeminate touch, you'd have Manilow. I respect his career but I have never enjoyed his music.

and while I dig Bobby Caldwell and "what you won't do for love" is a classic money cut, Caldwell is like Joe Carter's home run in the world series against philly while Manilow's career is like Reggie Jackson's 3 against the LA and he became Mr,Ocotber.

if you threw shade of Manilow say up against Burt Bacharach or paul Anka then i could see it, however Have you heard the arrangements that Manilow did for Phyllis Hyman? nancy Wilson? Dioone warwick? Sarah Vauaghan??

Caldwell ain't seeing Barry Manilow and I likes Caldwell.

that's under-selling caldwell, he has a lot of great songs and he is still making them today. he was not as commercial as manilow. i don't hold that against either of them

manilow is definitely a poor man's bacharach, sure. i respect his work but don't dig it personally and nah his arrangements don't blow me away but yes he is a pro's pro, like anka, sure.

and manilow went places that bacharach didn't go and if you think about Manilow is more versatile as well. i dig Burt however Manilow done gone down more lanes and back as a Artist. and Manilow's Arrangement on Dionne Warwick "De ja VU" is as strong as the arragements that bacharach and hald david did for her back in the 60's IMO
