Being a baptist didn't have many rules so I didn't have a lot of objections to doing catholic stuff (except those boring services).

neither of us are about that church life but we will go to each others church when we visit family.

We even had both preachers from our faiths marry us.

we were officially married in my MIL's house because her grandparents and other relatives were married in that house.

Then we had a wedding ceremony on the beach a few months later. My wife went to church with me the first time and immediately asked if my preacher would marry us for our ceremony cause he keeps it real.

my heathen ass doesn't know a Baptist from a Methodist from a Lutheran, etc.

All Christian sects are pretty much the same in my eyes. JayCee on the cross, read the Good Book, etc.

I'm speaking on like a Christian cat dating a Muslim or a Jewish person, etc. Where you REALLY gotta convert.

she goes to church, and I don't. She can take the kids though, so i got Sundays to myself!

I don't even go to make her happy anymore. I went once, and the pastor started talking about the first Thanksgiving telling the bullshit version of how the friendly Indians helped the beautiful Christian pilgrims. FUCK ALL OF THAT. I refuse to indluge that level of delusion.

If my wife needs it, and she made some promises to God or whatever, and that makes her life better... she can do all that. I won't criticize. Plus she's from South America, so good luck trying to talk a So. American out of Jesus.

We respect each other enough not to make a big deal out of it either way.

I'm gonna say no, because if I was dating someone, inevitably religious beliefs would come up at some point in the early stages of dating. If she's an X and I'm a Y, and we still found a way to make it work, then obviously it wouldn't really be that big of a deal anyway.
So no, I wouldn't convert. Nor would I expect her to.

ionno.. I think converting to a whole different religion is some hoe shit.

Nigga, I love you but how the hell am I gonna put your faith/God before mine?

Always feel like those who do it eventually crack under the pressure and end up cheating with someone from their faith.

I'm talking shit but lets be real, you ain't really about that life if a man or woman can change your religion.

Who do you really worship?

right. It's like saying, I'll worship whoever, just to get laid.

nobody's god is "better" than the next guy's, so I don't see the logic in converting.

obvious faith isn't the problem because it helped shape them into who they were.

I get going and participating and even respecting their religion but asking them to convert or converting because it's "easier" on the marriage seems off.

I guess it's cool if you go and realize this religion speaks to you and then you convert on your own.

Still though, that kinds of seem like you think your religious beliefs are somehow subpar, or inferior to theirs.

(unless they belong to a religion that's less strict than yours, and you like to get it in, LOL)

For me to fully convert to my current religion requires me to embrace all of the culture. Embracing the culture means turning my back on, admitting cultural inferiority, attacking my people, or otherwise doing things that lead to my ancestors in the after life being disappointed with me.

With all that said, I am naturally fully converted at least in conversations with people but friction exists within the culture itself. I could not 100 percent embrace someone that was fully in step with the culture because it's quite divisive, offensive, intolerant, and heavily confrontational in a micro aggressive way.

I am unsure if I could convert to Islam for someone I loved. That would be difficult but my situation is very difficult to deal with.

so no

Back in college I had a huge crush on this Guyanese Muslim chick
it was weird cuz she was hijabi but we still talked and hung out on campus (I knew and she knew she not supposed to be talking and hanging out with unrelated males but w.e)
but yeah that was going nowhere so we just drifted apart after a while

Then there was a couple of hardcore saved christian women later on
I went to church with one and apparently that was enough to get the panties soon after
the other one got saved AFTER we got together, and that was rough
led to a real bad break up
How you gonna try to change me when you liked me as I was in the beginning?

FOH

TBH the fact that you're even a mod here fits squarely within Jag's narrative of OK-sanctioned aggression, bullying, and toxicity. *shrug*

....(I don't subscribe to denominations such as Baptist, Methodist, etc.) and there is no way where I would convert to Islam, Satanism, Buddhism (yeah, I know it's not supposed to be a religion but let's face it, there are those who treat it as such), etc, etc.

I don't even subscribe to supposed faiths that are supposed to be Christian based such as Mormonism, Jehovah's Witnesses, etc. I'm not trying to even deal with the partial or non faiths of agnosticism and atheism. Any chick trying to convert me can forget it.

i was with a Jehovah's Witness for some time. we were definitely headed for a collision course with that conversation because our relationship was completely secret from her family and many of her friends (a couple of her CLOSE friends knew about me). now, she was violating basically all the JW tenets by being with me, fucking me, drinking with me, etc etc etc but we were getting more serious to the point where if it was gonna continue she was gonna HAVE to ask me become a JW or she was going to have be disfellowed (which means you're a pariah in the eyes of the church and your family and friends can't speak to and associate with you as I understand the practice).

fortunately, the relationship ended before we got there.
