"What exactly do you think the Trump Russian Conspiracy is?"
Wed May-10-17 01:35 PM by Buddy_Gilapagos

That is, what exactly do you think he did wrong?

Here is what I think. I think he couldn't get loans from US banks anymore so he started getting money from Russian Oligarchs. Oligarchs's with ties to Putin. I think he lied about it. I also think that explains his kissing up to Putin. I also doubt it's an impeachable offense UNLESS he agreed to remove the GOP platform issue about the Ukraine at the request of Putin or other Russians.

I do think he got some of his people to signal to Putin's people that if he were president he would lift sanctions. That's probably an impeachable offense.

I am doubtful that he personally coordinated with Russian's to throw the election. Mainly because I can't figure out how that would work. That is, how can Trump help the Russian's hack the election? They helped him but I don't see what he could do to collude with them EXCEPT trying to cover up that the Russians hacked the election. That's why the Comey firing was so stupid on his part. If it turns out Comey was on to something and then he fired him, that spells coverup.

However, at the end of the day, I think it's entirely possible that the entire conspiracy is only the Russian loans and he didn't really break any laws but handled it so badly that it convinced everyone there is more to the story than there actually is.

That is, if this doesn't end in an impeachable offense, I will be broken hearted.

I am doubtful there is compromising video of him that the Russians are using to blackmail him.

politicians have been lying since the beginning of time, it's what they do
Nixon was impeached because he tried to cover up the break in
Clinton was impeached because he tried to cover up his affair

I don't have any hope for a trump impeachment. Repugs finally control all 3 branches of govt and are going along with him for the ride
whatever it takes to repeal Obama's legacy
if it means enabling a traitor to America, so be it

Trump is loyal to himself and Ivanka only
everyone else is expendable and useful only until they aren't

Yes, Congress could likely impeach him whenever they want over his refusal to put his assets in a blind trust, if the Republicans in the House and Senate ever grew a pair. But the post was about Russia, so I kept it to Russia.

the russian government/mob did see an opportunity and pushed

Surrounding the stuff about him pissing on hookers/hookers pissing on him was all this info about creating plausible deniability so that the Russians could influence Trump without communicating with him directly. Trump might be a rank amateur, but the Russians are good about covering their tracks.

I think he borrowed some bread from the oligarchs....

and I think that he was cultivated to view the world as Putin does because he sucks up to Putin types... So he (& Bannon) are making world decisions through the view of someone who wants the US out of their way but stupidly thinks the isolationism is "America First"

I think that Flynn and Manafort and some others are around him reinforcing that view and as we've seen with Flynn on the Russian Payroll.

In response to Reply # 0

That Trump encouraged Russia to hack Hillary Clinton's emails.

Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gNa2B5zHfbQ

I think whatever the worst case scenario is Trump is guilty of it.

It's not hard for me to believe that this happened:

Trump met with Soviet Government officials and ask them to hack Hillary and the DNC to embarrass them.

Trump met with Brietbart and fox and ask them to escalate attacks on Hillary, and to write stories where minorities could be seen as "getting an advantage" and to ignore any or all other news.

Trump and his campaign accepted money directly from foreigners for his campaign and promised them political favors in return while using the words 'quid pro quo."

These things AND more are surely factual - I believe a 8*real* investigation would uncover proof of them all.

Putin/The Kremlin did NOT directly or indirectly hack or manipulate the 2016 election to tip the scales in favor for Donald Trump to win.

Shady business deals with foreign nations? Majority of Congress fits that bill.

And not for the sake of being "right" but for solid logic about what she brought to the table. Did I want Trump as President? Absolutely not. THAT is why I went as hard as I did because Hillary was the one candidate he could beat. A vote for her was a vote for him. I don't hate Hillary. However her policies leave a lot to be desired, and he resistance to stand for a platform when others were in need of strong leadership was the nail in the coffin for her campaign. I don't hate the woman, I just wasn't with her on this. She had so many opportunities to reel progressives in and threw the middle finger up instead. That was just dumb politics. I hope they don't repeat the same tactics in 2018.

Same happened witth Iraq. It's not as farfetched as you think.

Either way its not about being "right". This whole charade is a distraction from what people should be paying attention to. The real Red scare should be out gerrymandered districts that defund public schools and help tilt the Republican electorate, and has given the control of Congress over the last 10+ years. Or did Putin do that too?

Besides, Hillary won the popular vote, and lost electorally. No one can make that manipulation. She lost because of her campaign. The MOST anyone can say is that Russian affiliated hackers released the DNC's e-mails, however there is more evidence that WikiLeaks was given the files from a DNC party insider that was upset over their misdoings.

Believe what you wish tho.

been wrong, or misleading, of manipulative before.

MSM doesn't even know what it wants. Isn't Comey the same villain that cost Hillary the election when he investigated and exonerated her TWICE? Then Dems hated his guts, until he gets fired (wrongfully imo) but now we are looking at Trump as if this blatant firing is to cover up Russia collusion? Does Trump have something to hide? Absolutely. But it is not coordination with Russia to swing the election, nor hacking the election.

Idk a single non-Hillary voter who ever cited the (true) revelations in WikiLeaks as the actual reason they didn't vote for her.

DNC & Hilbots are mad their bullshit WASN'T sufficiently covered up, blame Russia for pulling the lid off it, Hillary talks "military response", she loses and now Trump seems to be going full dictator to cover up his own ties to Russia.

It's such an incestuous mess of garbage.

borrowed money from Deutsche Bank that he couldn't pay back. Russian oligarch bought his $40 million Florida house for $100 million so he could pay his creditors. I think when this stuff happened it wasn't even on the radar that he would ever be president, the Russian dude wanted to hide/de-liquify his assets and Trump needed the money. Once it became clear that he either couldn't pay the money back, or they (the Russians) thought he had a chance at being president, they ratcheted up their meddling, hacking, and influence peddling.

There is $500 billion worth of fossil fuels that Putin can't get his hands on because our sanctions prevent him from using American companies' tech to extract it.

I don't think Trump is a puppet, he's just a rich guy whose interests align with Putin's on a financial level. I don't think either guy knows how dangerous and volatile the other one is. I also don't think Putin is the master manipulator some make him out to be, it's not hard to do the stuff he does when you have absolute power and can't be prosecuted. The fact that we know he did all of this stuff means he isn't that slick.

I think these Trump campaign staffers had go-betweens with Russian agents but Trump himself probably wasn't talking to anyone directly, they got lawyers and henchmen for all that shit.

Some people need to fry over this, I'm just not sure who yet.

All of this shit was even remotely possible because of Fa.ux Ne.ws, voter suppression and Facebook.

Comey’s Firing Came as Investigators Stepped Up Russia Probe

FBI director had been providing updates to top members of the Senate Intelligence Committee

By Shane Harris and Carol E. Lee
Updated May 10, 2017 10:02 p.m. ET

WASHINGTON—In the weeks before President Donald Trump fired FBI Director James Comey, a federal investigation into potential collusion between Trump associates and the Russian government was heating up, as Mr. Comey became increasingly occupied with the probe.

Mr. Comey started receiving daily instead of weekly updates on the investigation, beginning at least three weeks ago, according to people with knowledge of the matter and the progress of the Federal Bureau of Investigation probe. Mr. Comey was concerned by information showing possible evidence of collusion, according to these people.

White House officials said Wednesday that Mr. Trump had for months been contemplating the possibility of removing Mr. Comey, and that the dismissal this week wasn’t connected to the Russian probe.

Meanwhile, a congressional investigation into Russian meddling picked up steam as the Senate Intelligence Committee issued a subpoena Wednesday for the president’s former national security adviser, Mike Flynn, to produce documents relevant to the investigation. And a federal grand jury in Northern Virginia has issued subpoenas for records tied to Mr. Flynn, according to a person familiar with the matter.

With Comey Fired, What Happens to Russia Probe?

FBI and Senate investigations into Mr. Flynn, which had been looking into the nature of his contacts with Russia before he joined the White House, expanded in recent weeks to include an examination of Mr. Flynn’s tenure as Mr. Trump’s chief security adviser, people familiar with the probe said.

Mr. Flynn was forced to resign as national security adviser for misleading Vice President Mike Pence about his contacts with Russian officials.

The Senate Intelligence Committee also has asked a Treasury Department office that investigates financial crimes for information related to Trump associates or people related to his campaign, said Sen. Mark Warner (D., Va.), the vice chairman of the committee.

Investigators are interested in companies that have done business with Mr. Trump or have connections with him, said people familiar with the matter. That could include businesses associated with members of Mr. Trump’s family, such as Jared Kushner, the president’s son-in-law turned aide who was formerly the CEO of his family’s real-estate business, Kushner Cos., one person said.

With his concerns mounting, Mr. Comey last week sought more resources to support the bureau’s investigation, which began last July. He requested additional personnel from Rod Rosenstein, who had been recently installed as the deputy attorney general, overseeing the FBI, people familiar with the discussions said.

Justice Department spokeswoman Sarah Isgur Flores said Mr. Comey and Mr. Rosenstein had their last meeting on May 1, with each man accompanied by a staff member. There was no discussion of resources or funds related to the Russia investigation at that meeting, Ms. Flores said.

On Monday, Mr. Comey briefed lawmakers on his request to boost the investigation, people familiar with the discussions said. The lawmakers, who have been running their own probe of alleged meddling in the U.S. election by Russia, and possible Trump campaign links with it, asked Mr. Comey if he could accelerate the FBI investigation, said a person with knowledge of the conversations.

Mr. Comey had been providing updates to top members of the Senate Intelligence Committee, which has taken the lead on Capitol Hill in the Russia probe, the person with knowledge of the conversations said.

On Tuesday, Mr. Trump informed Mr. Comey in writing that he was removing him as the head of the nation’s top law enforcement agency.

Mr. Comey’s dismissal prompted concerns among Democrats and Republicans that Mr. Trump’s White House was interfering with the FBI probe.

It's like the OJ verdict. When dude went free white people were furious. Couldn't understand how a jury could find him innocent. Same folks have 5011 reasons for white defendants getting off for the same crimes.

This is why I hated hearing people celebrate black cops getting the book thrown at them for killing that white child. If they went free white people would feel what we feel

So... when it comes to foreign policy folks can't fathom what it's like to see an American drone drop bombs on a wedding party or the fallout from collateral damage.

We fuck up A LOT of counties but swear we are angels who should be loved by all.

Trump ran into trouble when he tried to equate Russia's liberties with America....

Don't get it twisted...America has blood on its hands....Anyone saying differently is either clueless of our history or is living in a bubble.

But when someone ask you (Trump) straight up SPECIFICALLY about Putin having control over everyday freedoms (press, freedom of speech, etc...) and you instantly say AMERICA DOES IT TOO then that's just plain dumb.

Putin literally kills journalists.....Not arrest. Not jams up in courts. BUT KILLS. He sends out goons to shoot them in the middle of the street. There is a list of folks who have spoken out against him that have been poisoned and who have mysteriously died...Putin also has also rubber stamped targeting (and in some cases) killing gays....

Yep, America has and continues to do dirt....But Russia is on some other shit....

The same country with several assassinations on It's hands foreign and domestic?

The President doesn't have to order assassinations he just allows the NSA CIA and FBI to spy on you.

And middle management or lowly workers like the police will kill you. Look at the protestors in Ferguson.

I'm saying that I can call the President a lying sack of shit (as journalist...my real life job), expose some treacherous shit by his administration....And I won't get shot in the head...Or poisoned...Or mysteriously come up dead....

I'm saying that Watergate would (and could not) not have happened in Russia...

I'm saying that America has done some wild, sickening, dangerous shit and has locked up high profile whistle blowers under the at times convenient law of handling classified information....

But nobody is getting thrown out a window for reporting on the President of the United States....Like in Russia....

Lol this whole "manipulating our election" charge is based on truths being revealed to the voters...and it's extra stupid because I don't know anyone whose vote was determined by those leaks.

But now we have Donald Trump, coward that he is, clearly spooked and making moves toward dictator status to cover up his dirt.

This orangutan is about to be gone, and hopefully followed by many more on both sides. No way this shit can sustain itself.

say how big of a deal that old email scandal really was because I never cared enough about it.

Idk anyone who voted based on that.

The stuff about DNC officials operating in her pocket was something I DID care about but most of us already figured as much and Wikileaks confirming some of those suspicions still didn't come close to deciding the election

establishment candidate to win. Nothing in those emails showed they did anything outside of the rules to ensure that she would win.

There will always be propaganda and in this day and age you have to expect propaganda from foreign sources, but breaking into people's files was illegal when Nixon did it and is illegal now that the Russians are doing it (maybe in collusion with Trump).

In response to Reply # 43

Just a whole bunch of lol this dude . . .

And not active conspiracy.

Bernie ran a great campaign from a messaging standpoint. In practice, his shit was type trash. And that assumes that he wanted to win, and not just bring the DNC leftward. Because he established that goal, just looking at the platform alone (and the elevation of Keith Ellison to Deputy Chair, which would have been unfathomable before 16).

But if Bernie actually wanted to win, his logistics were worse than Clinton's were in the general. After Iowa, when he looked like a contender and not just a protest candidate, there were PLENTY of states that still had open registration. He needed to press hard with a formal ground game to drive registrations and bring in his energized base. And provide better support to candidates like John Fetterman and Zephyr Teachout, who would have been effective campaign surrogates and allies in Congress once he got the big chair. But he didn't. And so he ended up looking like Bart Simpson: https://frinkiac.com/gif/S02E19/950717/953553/IFdlbGwgSSBqdXN0IHdhbm5hIG1ha2UKIHN1cmUuIE9uZSBmb3IgTWFydGluLi4uCiBUd28gZm9yIE1hcnRpbi4gKAogY2h1Y2tsZXMgKQ==

But I don't think Bernie actually wanted to win the Presidency.

No one changed their mind or decided not to vote due to a letter.
Now, I def. think some white folk took that as the reason to finally admit they weren't voting for Clinton but that was always the case.

No one votes for Trump or doesn't vote due to a Comey letter.

"No one votes for Trump or doesn't vote based on a Comey letter"

Exactly lol

And imo the skewed polling is a direct result of the way we're making it more and more socially unsafe for ppl to be honest about their current perspectives. I think rather than having an open dialogue where minds could be changed, a lot of folks just kept that shit to themselves for sure.

But even more than that, I think apathy came into play. A lot of ppl who said they'd prefer Hillary over Trump, or just said they'd never vote for Trump, just stayed the fuck home...while others like myself voted for alternative candidates to try and boost the status of their platform going forward.

The great thing about the numbers is they come AFTER the fact...

I keep telling u guys...Trump's win was a shocker....99.9 percent of people did not think that college age white women would vote for candidate who spoke of grabbing pussy...Like real talk...

The shit happened....Trump got in.....And again he got in because there was a ultimate perfect storm of a lot of shit that went down that there is no need to go back and forth on because u don't believe it had any impact and I clearly do...

But in terms of the raw data, the numbers are there. The Comey letter greatly influenced an already tight race that was in Clinton's favor....It shook independent and progressive voters who thought her presidency would be mired in a legal quagmire....

Keep in mind, the team behind the numbers were also the lone folks that stated that Trump could actually WIN (they got ridiculed for that, BTW)...Silver got clowned on social media something awful because he wouldn't sip the Kool Aid willy nilly....

Nah...Damn near everybody thought Clinton was going to win....What two or three people said on OKP is moot. Trump got into office off of a series of historical WTF's....And now the Dems have to live with that shit because they opened up the door for this to happen (they simply underestimated the passion of the Anti-Obama base....)

I hate the Hillary is corrupt and "but her emails" crowd's thinking because it basically means you got sold on the GOPers talking points.

I also am not a fan of the hate on career politicans. A lot of career politicians out here trying to do good things and there is nothing worst to me than people thinking there first job in politics should be the white house.

Nah...there was def. a train....But like I said....A LOT OF SHIT had to happen in order for Trump to sneak in by a mere 60,000 votes....

Shocking Rise of Bernie
Russian Meddling
Hill Dawg being fueled with hubris that she was going to make short work out of a Reality Show Billionaire...
Polarizing hatred inside Right/Left politics
Clinton not going to Wisconsin
Voter suppression
Clinton being a woman

All of THIS^^^^^^ ain't normal, dog....And it took all that shit for Agent Orange to get into the Oval Office...

All that to say, the Dem Party has to get serious and fight the Republicans with the same dirt and doggedness they have been doing for the last 8 years....

Voter suppression at the level it took place in Wisconsin (200,000 folks, most of them being black) ain't normal...Given that Trump won by 60,000 votes....

And the Russian meddling angle connects with EVERYTHING else....It's less about their ability to make people support Trump (or vote against Clinton) and more to do with deeply carving up Western democracy. If there is a story coming out everyday about Crooked Hillary's email then yeah that matters to the overall big picture of how people viewed the election...

And Clinton is a woman.....And Trump is a STONG MAN....America....

what they list as the reasons people didn't vote for her.

HRC supporters insist it was the emails and shit like that, and always construct their points around that.

Actual people who didn't vote for Hillary almost never cite the those kind of things as main reasons why they wouldn't vote for her.

Russian hackers didn't turn social conservatives, religious ppl and pro-lifers off to her.

Russian hackers didn't create the idea that she's a war hawk, prison profiteer or a corporate shill Wall Street pawn for the ruling class who would sell us all out while Democrats cheer.

The very strong attitudes about who Hillary Clinton, what she stands for, and who she serves were all pretty much set in stone long before emails, Wikileaks, hacks etc.

But to Democrats, the voters suddenly stopped liking her when those leaks were leaked.

at this point, trump IS the president and thats that, there is a lot of smoke and people are trying to find the fire. something is not right.

EMAILS!!! and BENGHAZI!!! were the exact type of excuses people who hate Hillary were able to use to "justify" their reasons for not voting for her. The irrational hatred, and let's make it clear, these people HATE her, comes from much more deeply ingrained misogyny and adherence to the strict father morality archetype that she doesn't fit into than it does from any rational disagreements on policy.

Why were opinions so sour on HRC? Partly her and her husbands reputation, of course. But DT spreading false stories planted by Russian operatives, that IS collusion. How could you not think the fake stories had no effect? Many people cite things that are untrue as reasons they did not support HRC.

There is a data AND money trail. It all leads to the same place...

Something about her rubs people the wrong way and no one needed Russia to tell them to not vote for her.

It won't ever happen....I'll say it again....Clinton's campaign did not help matters. They should have gone into so called left leaning states like Wisconsin and Michigan. They should have laid out the case more why Clinton would be the better President rather than JUST point to Trump's own incompetence and outlandish behavior....

But people in this thread want to lay it all at the feet of Hillary Clinton...And that says a lot about how we view women in this country....

I mean, you are awake but you are still in the bed with the covers over your head.

You even admitted she needed to go to Michigan and Wisc so I know you get it but you still try to hide behind Russia and misogyny.

How about NAFTA
super predators
shitting on coal
calling voters deplorables
fainting on 9/11
ignoring Wisconsin & Michigan
being cheap as fuck with the ground game
hiding for weeks at a time
the private server
trying to win a 3rd term after Obama

All those things played a huge part in coming up short. This is why a lot of people thought it was a bad idea to run an established candidate with a shit load of baggage.

some people are unlikable and Hillary is one of those people.

The right's/Trump's (and some on the far left's) main response to this Russia thing is to assert that it's some kind of which hunt or sore loser excuse. That the real issue is Hillary being a shitty candidate.

This needs to be about what Trump did, or knew. Not how effective it was. We're never really gonna know that.

and even then, the resurgent Left getting a wake-up call could end up being a positive development. Though it seems a lot of people still prefer to argue over the share of blame to assign to H. Clinton, and with the GOP base still so willfully ignorant, it's an uphill battle for years to come.

Russia (really) tried in France but failed; no insurgent candidate in Germany with AfD fading to well under 10% now. They lucked out to an unfathomable degree with Trump, but that doesn't make Putin the Sauron of democracy either.

106. "What does it say about our media and the left that..."
In response to Reply # 98

....there have been 2 Presidential Elections where the winner lost and the 2nd place won? After both of these elections the media and the left decide not to open a debate about the Electoral College or even have 1 main stream media article or discussion about this system.

One of the reasons I've heard we have an Electoral College is in case of foreign infiltration of our democracy. When the Electoral College had a handful of people willing to flip their vote this time, and requested information on the Russian infiltration, they were denied any information on what happened.

The system makes no sense other than that one fail safe that they could have used. Outside of this one thing that the Electoral College can do - stop foreign infiltration of our democracy - the whole system's effect is to randomly have the winner lose and the 2nd place win.

This democracy makes no sense and it saddens me that the first time i ever voted in this country Bush won and Gore lost even though I think Gore had about half a million more votes than Bush. Also something not many people know is that if they had followed the strict rules of the Electoral College then Gore would have won that too. Because Dick and Bush were both registered in Texas and the Electoral College is not allowed to vote for a Vice President and a President from the same state.

Not only did the loser win the first time i voted but they also violated the rules of the Electoral College and cheated their way into the White House.

Not a single main stream media article was published or put on the boob tube which would open a debate or a discussion about this very flawed system.

position of the DNC and their undermining of their Party platform in an unbiased election, as well as their coordination to steer Clinton into the Democratic Nomination.

The only facts we have are the leaked e-mails themselves. We know that the e-mails are authentic because the DNC hasn't refuted them. During the campaign the leaks were a "nothingburger" but now after she lost somehow it was Russian hacking interfering with the election?

1. The only way these e-mails effected the electiom, which they may have, is via their CONTENT. The DNC's own mess turned away voters.

2. Once you accept 1., WHAT DOES IT MATTER WHO LEAKED THE INFORMATION AT THAT POINT? Could Russia have done it for political positioning? Sure. Would the US do the exact same thing given the same opportunity? Yes! And then bomb afterwards if it didn't work.

People are upset at the wrong things. As this gets reported ad nauseum in the news, the DNC is in court right now defending their frauding of American voters with the position that as a party they hold no responsibility to be impartial or unbiased in their election process. How much MSM is reporting on that?

Whole thing is fake as shit. Yall should be madder

But if you listened really closely you heard that there was nothing really there to see in the Weiner emails. And that most likely they would find nothing to arrest her or anything bad at all. But all people heard was inaccurate things like - EMAIL, DICK PIC, WEINER, SCANDAL, HILLARY KILLED PEOPLE IN BENGAZI (Spelled that way on purpose because most brains spell it that way)

The week before that it was PUSSY GRAB, PUSSY THIS, PUSSY THAT, DID WE MENTION WE CAN SAY PUSSY ON THE TV NOW? RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOUR KIDS, WE CAN SAY PUSSY. PUSSY. PUSSY

Old unfuckable people set a record for saying the word "PUSSY" that week, and it really grossed me out to hear their voice say the word. ikk an old fart just said "Pussy" again. They are running that word into the ground! Can we get some black guys from the Harlem Renaissance on this problem? We need a new cool word for "pussy" that isn't played out.

what he did to Hillary are the same people who are against using the Hillary as a pretext to oust him now that he is investigating Trump?

Like the general public can't be so dumb that they don't see there is no hipocrisy there are they?

surfaced already?

Whether it's trump calling someone an nword on the apprentice of him peeing (or being peed on) by Russian hookers?

Or the latest I read where he supposedly recorded a greeting to Vladimir Putin saying he would remove sanctions once he is in office?

126. "House Leader: I think Putin pays Trump...Swear to God!!!"

KIEV, Ukraine — A month before Donald Trump clinched the Republican nomination, one of his closest allies in Congress — House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy — made a politically explosive assertion in a private conversation on Capitol Hill with his fellow GOP leaders: that Trump could be the beneficiary of payments from Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“There’s two people I think Putin pays: Rohrabacher and Trump,” McCarthy (R-Calif.) said, according to a recording of the June 15, 2016, exchange, which was listened to and verified by The Washington Post. Rep. Dana Rohrabacher is a Californian Republican known in Congress as a fervent defender of Putin and Russia.

House Speaker Paul D. Ryan (R-Wis.) immediately interjected, stopping the conversation from further exploring McCarthy’s assertion, and swore the Republicans present to secrecy.

Before the conversation, McCarthy and Ryan had emerged from separate talks at the Capitol with Ukrainian Prime Minister Vladimir Groysman, who had described a Kremlin tactic of financing populist politicians to undercut Eastern European democratic institutions.

News had just broken the day before in The Washington Post that Russian government hackers had penetrated the computer network of the Democratic National Committee, prompting McCarthy to shift the conversation from Russian meddling in Europe to events closer to home.

Some of the lawmakers laughed at McCarthy’s comment. Then McCarthy quickly added: “Swear to God.”

Ryan instructed his Republican lieutenants to keep the conversation private, saying: “No leaks. . . . This is how we know we’re a real family here.”

The remarks remained secret for nearly a year.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/apps/g/page/national/read-the-transcript-of-the-conversation-among-gop-leaders-obtained-by-the-post/2209/?tid=a_inl

The conversation provides a glimpse at the internal views of GOP leaders who now find themselves under mounting pressure over the conduct of President Trump. The exchange shows that the Republican leadership in the House privately discussed Russia’s involvement in the 2016 election and Trump’s relationship to Putin, but wanted to keep their concerns secret. It is difficult to tell from the recording the extent to which the remarks were meant to be taken literally.

The House leadership has so far stood by the White House as it has lurched from one crisis to another, much of the turmoil fueled by contacts between Trump or his associates with Russia.
