"Found out I am being fired..."

aka contract not renewed. They dont know that I know. They are also still trying to gas me up TALKING about putting together an offer. I've SEEN the docs. It aint happening.

So my question is...how many fucks should I give?

BTW, I am currently at my desk wearing yoga pants and giant gold hoop earrings with my hair in a pony tail....and obviously entertaining myself here.

You might as well just shift to using the working time to look for another job if you're sure they aren't renewing your contact.

I think its personality thing. Plus, I am discovering that I dont work very well on teams primarily composed of white women. I think they find me off putting. Its interesting lol

Contract was wrapping up and we all were in limbo not knowing if they were going to hire us or not. One person on the team was a cousin of the manager and she tipped off the rest of us they weren't going to extend us and we had till the end of the month.

Used the remaining three weeks to look for jobs while on shift. They never said anything to us directly about our contracts till a week out before they were ending.

Luckily I had found something before the month ended, been with them ever since.

I'm super good. This gig was a fluke to begin with. Its only tangentially related to my field of work. My interest was primarily based on the convenience(20 minute bus ride from my place and upstairs from Neiman Marcus. Salary is aight. Its kinda the low hanging fruit and I've known that.)

But yeah, I am chill'n. I was mad at first cause they so damn fake. That lasted all of 30 minutes. Then I just decided to fake like I give a shit.

I just told them I accepted another position (a full out lie). They asked what organization. I named an organization that I am IN TALKS with and with whom I've already had 2 meetings(vetting is hella rigorous). They aint made no offer though. So I am still lying my ass off.

But its a very well regarded, very "connected" organization. The look on their faces..... priceless.

But it also got rid of some of the awkwardness. They dont have to keep lying about working on my offer. Now they are just lying about they were hoping I'd stay.

I probably would have told them that another company is scouting me and it would be nice to know the status of my new contract before I accept anything else (this would have forced them to show their hand). Now with you saying you took a new job, IF they still wanted you, they will either not bother OR they will have to counter the other companies fake offer. So it could work BUT more than likely, they may scramble to hire someone for you to train. Which would suck.
If this company is so well known, they might know someone on the inside they could ask who wouldn't have a problem spilling the beans on whether you were hired or not. I think it was silly to lie to be honest.

but if you dont' care whether you stay there or not, i guess it doesn't matter?

i mean once they said it's a wrap, I could understand the lie. like when i knew my job was going to fire me, I ain't say anything. i did get a new job but when they finally did, they gave me a big severance package and had I said anything in advance, they wouldnt' have given me any money lol. But you're contract so it's different.
