"Bug out bags. You got one? Tips?"

Yamean?

Not suggesting anything is going to go down but its time I start thinking about preparedness.

When I lived in CA I was reckless as fuck and never had earthquake gear ready to go

I'm older and responsible now.

You holding?

What you holding?

Unless you get hip and peace out early. Way too many choke points up there (bridges and tunnels).

Anyway, I have a bag but it's mostly survival comping stuff like knives, space blankets, first aid, fishing line, small tools, a compass, waterproof matches, flashlight (wind-up), etc.

My advice to only put things in your bag that you wont use regularly. You want you bag to be packed and ready to go, without worrying if you replaced the bandages that you used or put that knife back. Oh, and put your stuff in a sturdy backpack with a waterproof cover (or use a trash bag) and a chest or waist strap.

Exactly. We had a log jam and people had to abandon their cars during a snowstorm. Imagine some real world changing shit.

Too much traffic otherwise. No vehicle would mean a lot more work than the average person would be willing to do.

Hope he knows someone right outside of the city.

What's the over/under on how long someone could keep a bike as they pedal pass a few million people stuck in traffic or walking on foot?

Whatever it is, I'll take the under....

If you live in a dense urban area just tap out or be ready to kill kids and women to let motherfuckers know you aren't fucking around.

I suggest watching War of the Worlds with Tom Cruise. You aren't driving or riding past people on foot while they give you the right of way.

It's going down and it will be ugly as hell.

I'm close enough to the coast to drive on one tank of gas. From there I either steal someone's boat or live with my inlaws and hope those solar panels do the job. There are tons of old people and retired folks so I could strong arm canned good and fish off the pier for a while.

let me ask you a question

where would you rather be in a time of crisis?

in the sticks where you are alone where you would have to be incredibly self reliant

or

in a community where your neighbor can become an ally?

I've lived through the center of the LA riots

Sure, people rioted and burned shit but at the same time when shit was burning on the first night neighbors were hosing each other's garages down when they went up in flames to stop the fire from reaching the houses.

Humans are designed to work with each other.

At the same time however, I am keenly aware of how shitty we are to each other.

Tho I imagine the license is probably FAR easier to get than the city carry permit, which I heard only law enforcement and rich folks really get.

I recommend a rifle (shotgun is good because of reliability and ability to shoot multiple types of ammo) as well as a handgun

a 30/30 is also an amazing rifle for these situations

I also recommend 9mm for the handgun as most everyone can shoot it and ammo cost/availability

copped the all black one.

Have it loaded with a few things and still have a lot of room. Love the fact I can using molle attachments to create more space if needed.

It's a 72 hour pack, already have something smaller so wanted this for days worth of storage.
