"Christmas shopping..."

Have you started buying presents yet?

What have you bought, and for whom? (Why this present?)

Or are you planning to buy some things, like you already have a specific idea for a particular person?

Let's share...

Me:

I have only bought one present so far. It's a children's book with a fox and a hare as the main characters. It's for the son of my brother who is 7 years old. Last time I saw him he was reading some stuff on a sign along our walk, word for word. Don't know if this book will be asking a bit too much of him, but it might not. He's a smart kid and the book is about family and friends and stuff, and while I believe that is not his particular interest, it might be important for him in that way too. Just hoping he enjoys himself reading it though, and that he can relate to it a bit...

My 17 year old daughter's stuff is just about done. I've got to find her this one tote she wants.

We bought our nephew/son (He's a nephew that's more like a son!) a laptop. I just need to cop the MS Office Suite. He's about to start high school. So, we thought he'd benefit the most from a new laptop.

I found the shoes my lady wants and will be pulling the trigger on those in the next couple of days. Wanna see if I can find them cheaper somewhere else. Was about to order them just a second ago but I couldn't remember the size she needed for this specific brand.

My soon to be 25 year old son is already getting a gift. LOL Paying off his debt to the college he went to. He's finally ready to get back to school. And since I am ready for him to, I figured that I can get him off on the right foot with this token.

Not sure yet what I'm gonna do for our oldest who is about to be the Dirty Thirty.

I've got two gifts to cop as part of a gift exchange. And I've got a very young niece and young cousin who I want to cop some books for. I'm positive the niece will get her fill of any books I buy her. The young cousin (almost 2) won't. I bought him a couple earlier this year and I haven't seen this since I handed them to him and his mother.

Did it seem like that's a difficult thing to do? All I said is that I need to do it; not that I need to learn how to do it.

respond to me honestly, and I will try to respond accordingly. Bare in mind though, as to what concerns this particular reply that English is not my native tongue.

I don't want to believe you want my attention, but you have got it : what do you want from me?

Hate is not the opposite of love; the opposite is indifference. Attachment cries... hate masking as love... I wonder, but I will let you explain yourself first, I am not convinced of anything now, but I will be perhaps, later...

you are really persistant, I wonder why this is; I can analyse you with my 10 years extensive deep experience with psychologists, psychiatrist and patients with mental problems... now you you are just sharing snide remarks though; tell me how you really feel.

but I looked "nephew" up, and I understand now : yes, he is my nephew.

I have mistaken this for "cousin", which is the same thing as "nephew" in my native tongue.

I don't know what you want though, still, but my feeling tells me you want supremacy. You will never get that from me thougjh, bother some other people, untill you feel alright.

We clown each other for fun a lot of times. You can usually tell when someone gets/takes something too seriously once you're used to it tho.

I am serious, even in jest.

My mother has a narcissistic personality disorder.

My father has a dependent personality disorder.

I am used to not trusting people, using psychoanalytical thought to evaluate them... it is what it is.

how difficult was it to learn English? isn't it one of the hardest languages to learn? how long have you been speaking English?

sorry for all the questions. this is all very interesting and i think explains a lot about things getting lost in translation from both ends. i don't think you ever really mean any harm, and i think that works the other way around too.

Always nice to hear your perspective on things.

I am posting from Belgium. Dutch, French and German are official languages. I don't speak German though. There is only a little part of my country that speaks German, it was added to the country after World War 2, as compensation. I worked in French in the capital, but I don't live there anymore now.

I started learning English in high school, around 14 years old, but I really learned it through music and movies and the internet. Everyone in my country speaks English fairly well. English might be the easiest language to speak, and more common than Esperanto.

Might have taken things too far in this thread, I don't know. I backpaddled a bit... I don't mean harm, but I don't like being fucked with either.

>i think knowing all this about you will help with how things
>you say are received.

how do you think they are received? I can be on a psychological tip, bbut that is because that is where I'm coming from with my life, the last 10 years of it. But am I difficult to understand, or... ?

I kind of feel like this thread is ruined now though; can't request every thread to be deleted. It is tainted now...

talking down to people. sometime it does. also, you can get real defensive if you think someone is 'coming for you', when it's usually just everyday snark around here.

the psychoanalytics can also be a little off-putting. most people don't really care what your psychological evaluation of them is.

make them socks cute, if they are for girls, or funny or cool for boys... don't know what age you are talking about though, lol

what's a scrapbook?

>is there anything you want?

well, i went shopping today and I bought a new pair of jeans, a small trashcan for the bathroom and an ash-tray (so I have a spare one in case there is another smoker in my house). other than that, i do not really want something now, perhaps some new winter shoes and a new winter coat, that's it I think, I'm not very materialistic, but I still like to look good!

I like to think of scrapbooking as photo journaling.

Nobody really. I have been let down by people all my life. I like "new" people more than "old"people" I think, but I LIKE some people though. It is not like I am bitter... and I have a lot of compassion for people with (mental health) problems.

What's your fondest "scrapbook" memory? can make you cry, laugh...

they have been looking at or have on their wishlist, and buy it and call it a day.

Amazon is constantly suggesting things that somehow it knows I want. I feel like the next step in Amazon's world domination is just tell me what people want for gifts and cut out all this inefficient gift buying.

I came up with an idea for a gift/registry app. You log in, see your friends profiles and want they have "liked" and you can browse their list.
