Reading the MAMMAS FREN thread (FOH with calling it the hammer thread) and the questions that followed makes me wonder what happened?

My theory... the word misogyny and patriarchy popped up and all a sudden jokes and shit talking turned into "attacks" on women.

In that sense, it seems to be some type of self-reinforcing thing, where once female participation dropped below a certain level, none of the other women wanted to post either because it was below that level. back then. And alot of the women enjoyed that. People actively spent time with each other in the big population centers (NYC, PHI, DC, ATL, LA) and that would reflect in the boards alot. So when the aging out happened, alot of that stuff slowed down or stopped, and in turn, alot of the women had less incentive to really be on the boards all the time.

Then add in the logical descent of years of Warz posts burning down to their hot, sizzling core and it became too much for alot of the women here, sometime in the last 18 - 24 months.

At least in the threads I've been in or read without replying, I see a lot of folks going back and forth with what looks like well thought out responses from either side of a discussion. Then in comes RJCC with a bullshit response like "Oh look, it's the babysitters club!".

9 times out of 10, he has no meaningful response and only serves to stir up shit. After this happening so often many folks just reply to him as if he's trolling a thread, even when he's not. The fact that he's a mod and gets away with trolling threads also pisses people off.

lfresh is all together different. I've been in threads where discussions with lfresh start out ok, then someone says something she vehemently disagrees with and it sets her off on a never-ending tirade. The thing is, she's not always like that, but those rants tend to be so fuckin epic-ly long that it ends up being all anyone remembers. Plus, she's quick to resort to personal insults, even when no one has leveled them at her.

Ehh, I don't think its personal though. Ill see the back and forths; nuanced until someone puts up a well thought out and everyone is like OUT COMES HER CLAWS, but you take 3 steps back you see her point.

What happens is the poster doesn't actually see that their argument is fucked up and takes her remarks personally. I can type a 4 paragraph eloquent story from my own personal life that I think is just illustrating a point and get mad she called me pro-rape. I still refer to stuff as from "that siter" stuff. This places better days are behind it, but the people that have come from it are pretty unmatched. ^^ that's also important. I message I get is that women were trying to make it clear what they wanted from the men to show they value their presence here on the site. Men ignored it in favour of a sausage fest, and a sausage fest is mainly what it is now.
