There's certain exits on I10 through Phoenix that are HOV only and we had just moved there back in 2003. I didn't even know what HOV stood for at the time. I followed the directions to get to an interview and got off at an exit to downtown. Highway motorcycle cop was in front of me at the light at the top of the ramp. Saw dude look in his side mirror, then he busted a U on the ramp got behind me and hit the lights.
I explained to him I was following the directions I had printed out and still got a ticket for using the HOV. I went in front of the judge a month later and took those instructions with me. When she asked why I was in the lane I explained that we had just moved there and didn't have HOV lanes in Michigan, so I didn't know what it was and was just following instructions to get to a job interview. She gave me that "ignorance of the law is no excuse" speech then dismissed the ticket.

for people driving slow in the left lanes. I once passed in a HOV lane just to get around 4 cars driving at the same speed. Took my ass back in the reg lanes RIGHT AFTER that tho.

I never really had a problem with slowness in the left lane on the 101 or 202, but I17 and I10??? hell fuck yeah.

when did HOV need 3 people? I was back in CA visiting fam driving around with my girl when I looked up & noticed the sign said "Carpool lane is 3 or more people"?
