Kevin Hart Named World’s Highest-Paid Comedian, Amy Schumer Becomes First Woman to Crack List

SEPTEMBER 28, 2016 | 12:47PM PT
Kevin Hart has been crowned as the world’s highest-paid comedian by Forbes, ending Jerry Seinfeld’s nine-year reign.

According to Forbes’ list, Hart earned a whopping $87.5 million between June 2015 and June 2016 thanks to stadium tours, and both big and small-screen appearances, pushing Seinfeld into second with $43.5 million.

Amy Schumer also made history as the first ever woman to crack Forbes’ list, coming in at fourth with $17 million.

While much of Schumer’s earnings came from her stand-up tour with Aziz Ansari, her award-winning Comedy Central show “Inside Amy Schumer,” $8 million book deal for “The Girl With the Lower Back Tattoo,” and commercial work helped her sandwich in between ventriloquists Terry Fator in third with $21 million and Jeff Dunham in fifth with $13.5 million.

In the past year Hart has starred in several comedies, including “Central Intelligence” and “The Secret Life of Pets,” and has done commercial work for H&M, Hyundai, and Foot Locker.

Hart’s earnings also placed him sixth on Forbes’ “Celebrity 100” list. His “Central Intelligence” costar Dwayne Johnson was named the world’s highest-paid actor, pulling in $64 million in 2016, by Forbes last month.

Here are the 10 highest-earning comics:

1. Kevin Hart — $87.5 million
2. Jerry Seinfeld — $43.5 million
2. Terry Fator — $21 million
4. Amy Schumer — $17 million
5. Jeff Dunham — $13.5 million
6. Dave Chappelle — $13 million
7. Jim Gaffigan — $12.5 million
8. Gabriel Iglesias — $9.5 million
9. Russell Peters — $9 million
10. John Bishop — $7 million

I see billboards of dude all over the place every time we swing out there.

George Wallace was like that up to a couple of years ago. Dude had a gig on the strip and his face was everywhere. No way he wasn't banking.

Penn and Teller and Eddie Griffin got their gigs over at Rio just off the strip too. Pretty sure they gotta be up there as well.

He was eventually gonna be Jerry, other than shows here and there he's mostly seems to be working on his show. Jerry could be on that list just collecting cheques from Seinfeld and spending most of his days at the comedy store and Mets games LOL

I fucks with Gaffigan! Been meaning to watch his tv show it looks good

sadly I agree.

purely speculative but I think that all this oversaturation is the result of him working from a 'team perspective' (letting the homies write his material so they can have a resume and garner some paper).

When he was 'goin thru it' he was funnier; now that he's 'all the way up' it seems harder to find that life angst or whatever it is that used to drives his self-deprecating style.

But I'd never wish pain on a nxgga for the sake of my entertainment. Get ya munnies, bruh.

'Real House Husbands' was more successful creatively then ive ever seen him done as an overall project so the spark is there.

Problem is he just gets it good enough for his perceived audience, puts it out, makes bank, repeats.

Not gonna be mad, but at the same time hopefully he takes a step back and realizes even Tyler Perry has tried to step his game up (although he's back to doing Madea movies, so who knows, lol)

if any of the folks on this list are bothered by the fact the amount of money they make is now available for the public to know. Perhaps it's because I'm a private person, but that would bother me tremendously. Do the folks on this list present Forbes with information on how much money they've earned?

Now, most of them actually make even more for the private appearances they make that they don't report. Especially how rappers always do club appearances for cash, which may not be reported.

on ANOTHER note, it's really cool to see Dave on the list, especially since he's doing it on his own terms in a different way than most comedians
