service people on the phone... with an extreme passion... Like, the second I hear an accent that isn't American origin, my whole demeanor changes and I brace myself for an uphill battle. I'll even hang up and try calling back in hopes of getting an American.
Do I need healing? Am I completely a vile human because of this? Who can I run to??

I went to school for engineering my first year and every Indian teacher made it a horrible experience.
and then when I would go talk to them after class to try and get help I got slick talk like
"do you have a phone?"
or when I went to the hospital with my Dad a doctor asked me what I did for a living. WTF does that have to do with kidney failure?

American companies outsource customer support to as many "cheaper" labor markets all the time...some calls will go right to American English speakers while others will get unloaded to other support channels
Accents are difficult for me to understand sometimes and i think sometimes those reps don't understand english as well as the hiring company thinks
amazon has tried something different where they hire part-time laypeople to field calls with scripts and so forth and so far...those folks have been much worse lol

They must have recently started outsourcing....because I remember I used to always get an American on the phone. I tried the call back thing 3 times today and just gave up and got on Chat instead. At least with chat, the language barrier is somewhat lowered.

I'm exactly the same way. If I'm calling customer service, I expect that the person on the other end is going to deliver a good customer service experience.To date that hasn't happened with a non-American. The language barrier is typically the problem, but also lying to me at the beginning of the interaction pisses me off to no end. I call and some cat sounding like he's straight from Calcutta or Bangalore talmbout:
"Hello, my name is James..."
Nah dawg, your name ain't no fuckin James. You're already lying to me and you don't even know why I called.
Last week my wife got so pissed off at some Indian that she yelled at the person "I CAN'T TAKE THIS SHIT, I'LL BE GLAD WHEN TRUMP GET'S IN OFFICE SO THESE JOBS COME BACK OVER HERE TO AMERICANS!!!"
