I never appreciated just how many people are watching me walk around the streets until I had a balcony and started watching the sidewalk below. Nobody ever notices you. We're by a canal, so get a constant stream of boats and pedestrians taking the scenic route.
I've seen two guys shooting heroin in a churchyard. A homeless drunk try for 10 minutes to hop up onto a sheltered ledge before a passer-by gave him a leg-up. Lost count of drug deals. Kids like to ride up and down the canal towpath on mopeds they've stolen from pizza deliverers.
And I live in quite a nice neighbourhood... it's *fascinating* out there!
