I'm gonna be in NYC soon (22 Aug) for a couple weeks and was wondering if you guys had any tips on where to stay.

My first aim is to go to the Afro Punk festival.

But generally I just want to check out this city that's been so influential on myself... Hip hop took over my brain back in 92

My natural habitat is New Zealand so I'm a long way from home. My culture is Māori, we're kind of like Native Americans perhaps.

I'll also be in DC, Montreal, Seattle and Cali before coming back to NYC. I'm going to those other places to visit family. Then I'll try to get back to the Roots Picnic Feat Wu Tang. I gotta see the Wu before I expire you see

Any hints tips and tricks much appreciated!
