all the erykah badus, jill scotts, roots, dangelos, down to your d league algebra or yahzarah shows
a bunch of nerds & fat girls, before social media really took off, lifelong weirdos who nobody else liked, who were always the weird kids and misfits in their real lives and woefully out of step with what was popular always...somehow found each other because the roots...were the same as us and had a message board.
and teddy bear would roll in there too. young kid. chubby...baby weight. kid was literally a kid. he always wore a sparkly head band which was i GUESS kinda in the style back then, but not really lol
and he would somehow get in the show and wild out too. in the love section with everyone else.
fairly certain he was at the roots $2 bill show on mtv. one of these days somebody gonna have to look for his headband
when i heard he passed i sincerely couldnt believe it. had NO idea. NONE. a kid like him, seemingly with the whole world laid out in front of him...all the potential. ALLLL the possibility. gone.
i wont front like he was my friend. we may have had all of 5 or less interactions period. if that. but i knew him. i wish that he had given himself more time, to figure it out, to see what life had in store for him.
a couple folks from the urrea went to his memorial service if i recall right...i couldnt make that leap. i dont think energy dies so he's out there...somewhere...ready to party. hopefully ill see em on the other side one day
