also the Radioactive Man poster is great.

I have a few framed posters in my studio. I want to add a few more around the house but the wife wont let me

This Homer poster the wife got me in Ensenada. She went on a day cruise for her bachelorette party. Homer dressed as Emiliano Zapata. Funny enough I ended up naming my son after Emiliano Zapata.

These are 2 Bua's I have framed. Wish I could buy a real one.

>also the Radioactive Man poster is great.

Yeah, those 3 posters were made to display in the Bongo comics booth at Comic Con. They do not have rights to make those into posters for any other reason - so there are only 2 of each.

Tell me that poster is on velvet, please!

When you say "Real Ones" do you mean you want a print from his studio? or an original? Because that would cost several thousand for something new, and for the popular ones it'd be much much more.

yes Ive priced them and the wife looked at me like I was crazy.

the homer one is actually on a thin piece of wood. It came with a rustic looking frame. But the frame didnt match the all black studio. So I took the frame off and put it in one similar to the other ones I have.

Completely original. I commissioned an artist to do it for me. 30x40 (I wish I could've afforded larger), acrylic on canvas in my living room.

I have somewhere around 30 pieces of poster/print/painting up in my house. Plus another 10ish that I need to get framed or otherwise placed.

The Dilla one is featured on practically 75% of my IG posts, haha. Here's the most recent one since I upgraded to the red Klipsch speakers:

https://www.instagram.com/p/BGfqes1vSjG/

The Eddie Kendricks waveform sits at the top of the stairs, right as you enter the record room:

She got me the Dilla painting as a gift before we even got engaged. I started saving for a ring shortly thereafter.

I have limited edition prints and art products from Glenn Ligon, and Nick Cave, Lorna Simpson, Mickalene Thomas, Carrie Mae Weems, Sanford Biggers, Kara Walker...
Unforunately most of them are in tubes or rolls because I have no wall space and all windows.
One day I'll frame all my shit and put it up when a place with wall space or "summer home" upstate.

Here are some of my favorites...

Some of my own photos, some paintings, a few prints. I just got a new limited edition photo of Prince that I still need to hang. Way too much stuff to try to list here.

I've been a framer for a long time. This reminded me that I have framed stuff in the spare room that isn't on the wall.

So is this an original print of it?

Edit: If it's an original print I would be willing to trade my Garfield and Nermal cel for it

the Mrs. is named after the queen of Sheba. Her mom (RIP) saved this poster and we took it to a local blk-owned framing shop and had it restored (?? he put a clear coat that dried to a 'crackling' effect on it) and framed.

I have a few pieces of art from some of the locals that I picked up at art-walk events over the years, and a couple small Afrikan masks.

or really anything from here:

the price is a slight hinderance since after framing you are easily looking at $200+

I've got a thing for getting posters and mounting them so I can hang them on the wall and remove them easily without destroying them. I also have framed a few. And I have a few pieces of original art.

Here's what I've got:

Posters from Art Exhibits:

Quilts of Gee's Bend exibit
Two from a Frida Khalo exhinitt
Monet exhibit

Movie posters:

Star Wars poster in some language that I still don't recognize; my brother bought for me during a trip to Europe he took years ago.
Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrells
Big Trouble in Little China
Dark City
Batman: Dark Night (out of focus Joker writing "Why so serious?" in blood)
The Hangover
Inglorious Basterds
My Neighbor Totoro

Hip-Hop posters -
Eric B. & Rakim - Follow the Leader (this used to hang in bedroom when I was a teenager. The poster is a bit beat up, but it adds to the effect after it was mounted)
Das EFX - Dead Serious promo (Also from my younger year, though it's in better shape)
Raekwon - Only Built 4 Cuban Linx. Photo from the inside insert with the entire Clan.
MF DOOM & Ghostface. I actually bought I couple of copies of the Mass Appeal mag with them on the cover, and cut out of the pages with the articles and photos, and had it mounted on one big poster. It looks ill.

Concert posters. Official promo posters I got from some of the shows I went to at the Fillmore. I don't think they make them for shows anymore -
George Clinton/Parliament Funkadelic
The Roots
Atmosphere
Jurassic Five & X-Clan

Other various stuff around the house -
Framed Ketubah from our wedding hanging over the bed
Framed blown up image that was used for our wedding invitations (Matron of honor drew my wife and I in the Pixar style used in "Up")
Framed poster of one of the frescoes from a catherdral in Siena, Italy
Mounted poster of Table Mountain and the rest of the Nine Sisters in Capetown, South Africa
Art from Mexico, Australia, and South Africa
Two original abstract paintings by a former neighbor

They were in my room at my folks' house and I had to clear them out along with a mess of other shit. Enjoyed looking through it but most of 'em not worth diddley squat - no-name folkies and whatnot.

Think I only kept a Phish one (ca 1991) and a Blues Traveler one (1990). No idea where they are now. Probably worth $10 or so. Phish one maybe more.

I have a Pete Seeger one too, concert from a local high school from around the time he turned 70 (spring 1989). Should have had him autograph it but had him sign a record instead.

34. "Restrike from an original Wharton Esherick woodcut"
In response to Reply # 0

there's some other stuff (no pop culture stuff unfortunately), but that's the most interesting.

Ours is January:

https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/236x/8c/a4/15/8ca415544cf434fff5fbbb3c7160d868.jpg

The studio museum is a few minutes from my house, absolutely fantastic place, and they still have several of his woodcuts; they do runs of 100 prints (usually 6 or 7 available at any given time and they rotate a pretty large number of them through) and sell them at what I consider to be a very reasonable price to raise funds.

Was just at the Esherick studio museum last week and I asked if they use the press in the studio to make the restrikes; they answered that they've just got it fixed up and have run their first set on them. Prior to that (which would include mine, which I've had for 10 years) the restrikes were all being done at U Penn somehow.

I'd love to get more of them - there are literally dozens of his woodcuts I'd love to own and could get through the museum - but at a purchase price of $135 plus framing costs, it's far from a high priority at this point.

You can see the retrikes they have available now toward the bottom of the museum store page, just scroll past all teh tees and books: http://www.whartonesherickmuseum.org/store.html

and of course the Museum is worth a look if like most people you've never heard of dude before: http://www.whartonesherickmuseum.org/

I picked up a set from an artist in DC around U Street (I THINK the canvas' are signed "K.Salley" but if anyone knows the guy/recognizes his work lemme know, would love to look into more).

http://imgur.com/a/01Rsn

Have this up in the kitchen from a dance night in Durham (put this in an old frame I had but looking to get it professionally framed sooner or later).

http://imgur.com/a/nPelf

An old intern of mine drew this at the last conference I led with this org, so it has some personal sentiment plus I think it's interesting. Going to frame this & put up in the restroom (colors go w/the stuff in there)

http://imgur.com/a/8ldN1

In the bedroom I have this set framed - picked them up from a Sudanese guy in Marrakech.

http://imgur.com/a/XYT05

Only other thing I have to put up at the moment is a framed foil covered map - I've been to enough places now where the color underneath is showing & it looks good.
