"Just copped a Firestick/Kodi. Should I get a VPN to be safe? "
For real, I got like five minutes into watching Bvs OJ and got nervous about my ISP or the Feds sending me a nastygram.
But I did watch the pRons tho'.
Anyways, I'm seeing that a lot of people are recommending a VPN just to be safe since the app is open source and the VPN masks all your internet activity even from your ISP.

6. "Most likely it isn't the hardware that's making the streams hit or miss" In response to Reply # 5 Thu Jul-14-16 12:07 PM by Mafamaticks
It's the software (Kodi)
Basically all those plug ins that show live streams and shit like that are coded by random developers. So there isn't any official support. If a stream is down then you'll either have to hold the L or wait until the developer fixes it.
If you get a box it'll be a different interface and may run faster or slower depending on how the hardware compares to the Fire stick, but you'll most likely still be dealing with Kodi and you'll still be dealing with the plug ins that are hit or miss
Also, just skimmed through some of the reviews. Don't get that box. It has an older version of Kodi on it.

Cheaper than the Fire stick. Maybe wouldn't get that specific box, but they're great. I'd recommend a USB mouse to use it easier, the included remote sucks.

I do have a Fire Stick thanks to my father and Kodi runs rather well on it (using The Beast build so far).

People who sell Android boxes. Not people who own them. They don't understand how it works ye,which is great. Here in Canada, the rate of people cutting the cord is ridiculous. Even the elderly are down with it. The power that be are fighting a fight they can't win. Between the affordability, accessibility and versatility of Netflix, Kodi and others, it's going to be very difficult to justify charging people hundred of Dollars for cable or satellite packages on which most of the content is used.
