"Poll question: where does your disposable income go?"
Thu Jun-30-16 12:59 PM by SooperEgo

to clarify:

clothing is a necessity. but the choices you make regarding quantity and quality can make it a luxury.

same thing with food. i'm not talking about what you need to eat to avoid starving. i'm talking about ordering lunch from the nearest steakhouse rather than brown bagging it.

Poll result (39 votes)

food (15 votes)Vote

I could get more than 2 ounces for that $250. Easily and legally.

2 ounces per week might kill me.

I rarely eat at home and I'm always trying out new beers and cocktails. I also work in the service industry and have many friends that bartend so I feel a sense of duty to pay it forward.

my mom recently chastised me for not saving more money. while i do re-invest a lot of it in my business (she is aware of that), she is right. if i totaled up all the money i spent on food, weed, sneakers, chicks, clothes and general things that ben kingsley would describe as "a sweet taste in the mouth" in "the house of sand and fog," i think i would cry. last year when i did my tax returns i came close. it was like a real 180 because at first i was very happy with how much i took in. then i realized how much money i put in the bank over that year. then i had to write the fucking checks to the IRS and state tax board. that said, I REGRET NOTHING. every lobster tail, every romance that spilled across across borders, every pair of vintage Uptempos and every dab was worth it. uh, i think.

And you will know MY JACKET IS GOLD when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

i am dropping $2500 a year down the fucking drain as emergency insurance. when i have an actual problem it is CONSIDERABLY less expensive for me to pay the cash price at a private doctor, especially if it's a specialist which it almost always is. kaiser would have me go to my general practitioner, pay $50 co-pay (then they bill me for $100+ usually after the fact) and then get a referral to a specialist, then pay even more for that visit. i can just go to a fucking ENT or urologist or dermatologist or whatever and pay $40-$80 for the visit cash price, and also get much better care. the only reason i have the insurance if i get a big kidney stone or get into a car accident or something. it's ridiculous.

when i am in another country i am always amazed by the low cost of services and medicine, the accessibility of care and medicine and, often, the quality of care. a couple times on the road my girlfriend had issues (dental thing in peru, skin thing in brasil) and we were for visits ... and were not charged! both times the doctors were very professional and thorough. follow-up visits are almost always free. the other day i had to go to the dermatologist, i went to the best one in the city, got a consultation, a free follow-up, an injection and three meds for about $70. our country is so fucked.

And you will know MY JACKET IS GOLD when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

...two things happened. My girl and I were on a walk in a park when I saw a course, less than a mile from my house. And Sports Authority went outta business and their discs were all dirt cheap. So I copped a new set and played and immediately jumped right back into it. Now I'm one of those dick heads with discs for every variation of a throw I'll never need.

...necessities like having to fix the car or the electric bill is higher than expected or "why the hell I'm I still paying TWC for this high ass bill when I should be cutting back" things.

I use to spend every dime I had on vinyl, cds, blank media, extra shit I already have like (crates, slipmats, a new ipod, speakers, etc.) but I've slowed down on all that shit, infact I pleaded to not buy any music for two years (that only lasted 3 months) but now I probably spend maybe $5 a month instead of $200 on music & etc.

Yeah I could cut back on my cable; I do need the matrix though; I really don't need those extra 300 channels, don't really need a landline either.

Food, yeah I still buy groceries every week, I could make lunch & dinner at home everyday but do I, hells no, probably three to four days I'll eat out and end up spending $5 to $15 on something.
