I'm hearing that it's just as good as the last album. I'll have my words on it tomorrow!
I feel like it might be toooo West Coast to have national appeal, and his buzz isn't as high as it was with "My nigga" and "Who do you love" but people are saying it's still a great album. My boy DJ'd the album release last night, and Mustard hopped on the tables, but I don't think he's on the album, which is what his uncle told me would be he case. He said they'll link back up for the next one.

he's super big in LA and on Twitter, My Nigga blew up because anything with Mustard on it at that time was guaranteed but he doesnt have the appeal of anyone going platinum or even gold (from sales, not streams) he just makes street music that bangs To me no one on TDE/Interscope makes extra West Coast music like YG, they want to reach as many people as possible It's good enough for me to purchase after one listen, potentially better than My Krazy Life. I dont know if he's meant to be big though

Just doesn't have the strength of songs, but he's developed as a rapper/writer aside from the Drake track, which is surely the weakest song on there too.
I'm shocked he made NOTHING for the ladies or the club. A lot of it sounds super, super 90's West Coast compared to the last one...like WSCG, Spice 1 West Coast.

Those bass notes are usually pretty crisp but this one is muddy as hell and it sounds like the notes aren't cutting off. Synth bass 101 man, come on. Otherwise the bass is a dope take on the bass line from Dre's 'Let's Get High'.

lol I had a feeling someone would get me on that. Dre was the point of reference most people would have understood so that's what I went with, though you do have a fair point since I was kinda clowning the bass line.
I made a beat years ago that had a melody similar to The Next Episode. It was a synth beat where I essentially interpolated two different samples together- the chords and bassline from Strawberry 23, which was intentional, and the melody line from David McCallum's "The Edge", which just sort of happened. It came out pretty dope.
Anyhow I showed some folks and and told them how the beat came about and that they'll probably hear a little of Next Episode in there. One super duper hip-hoppy keeeeepin it reeeeal type dude tried to call me out and said "That's why you keyboard producers really ain't shit, you don't know your history, that's not Dr Dre, that's David Axelrod right there...."
I schooled the fuck out of him when I corrected him. He was half right, as DA wrote and produced it but it's technically a McCallum cut, someone he'd never heard of, which let me know he didn't *actually* know his shit and probably just read up a lil in a magazine somehwere. He tried to argue with me but I pulled up the sample then and there and then googled it for him. I also chastised him for not recognizing the bass and chords from Strawberry 23. He was pretty quiet after that.

I remember when this nigga dropped his first album I was in like 4th grade IN 1989!!!!!! It's brazy, my relative live like 2 blocks from where he filmed 95% of this video that house they in is actually across the street and up maybe 3 house from that liquor store they filmed at LOL

YG is good but I got a Black Wall Street question. What happened to the homie Techniec from the LBC. He was NICE. I was excited when I saw he was on Game label even though I never liked Game. Why can't that brother get a break and get something out?
