I went through the first two eps quickly but then let them pile up a bit, but I jumped on the Kweli episode right away this past Friday and for my money it was easily the best ep yet. They cover an awful lot of ground and the chemistry there was excellent. Kweli even addressed KRS’s Bambata comments from his episode.
I’m betting Kweli becomes a recurring guest.
I know the Philpots of the world swear they’re adding nothing to the culture but thus far they’ve been on point in a big way IMO. Nore is an absolute natural and is perhaps the most engaging host of any show or podcast I’ve checked outside of perhaps Sway.
I like that Nore is focused on creating a platform for the storytelling because it allows for natural, free flowing dialogue that isn’t hindered by the blatant baiting and arrogance of guys like ebro or the overly sanitized E! network gossip styling of Charlemagne. So far there’s been a good variety of artists and I fully expect that to continue.

The interuptions in particular are irritating. I'm with you on that. He doesn't have strong interview skills and they overdo the whole "make some noise" thing. Some of those things go hand in hand with the lack of a journalistic approach but I think he'll begin to refine the show a little as time goes on.
I'm betting he settles in and figures things out a little by, say, ep 25. He'll hit a good stride at some point.

The format is established, Nore is a happy drunk, I can't see the interviews getting too much better. The only way he can do that is adding the occasional guest host. Which would be cool, but Nore has always had a tendency to talk over everyone. I'm very happy with this level of quality, the show has been very entertaining thus far. There will always be a few "damnit, why did he distract the guest/switch subject" moments, but I can live with that.

it works because:
- Nore has clearly grown and matured - but he's willing to play ignorant to get a laugh (his response to Prince Be slandering Chuck D "they should have killed him") - the more drunk he gets the more belligerent he is - he isnt very educated at all but he doesnt pretend to be (unlike other "street smart" personalities), he'll quickly admit "I dont know what that word means" about a high school education word and keep it moving - the recurring "make some noise" bit is funny every time because he'll apply it to anything except kids or women coming to harm - he's just naturally having the time of his life trying to get compelling conversation from his friends, it never feels like he's over thinking it
I wasnt crazy about Benzino & Dave Mays because it felt like a press stop for them and it was too controlled, DMX was awkward, but just about everything else has been golden

Based off of the clip of Nore's DMX story. "NOBODY does a song with The Dog that easy" lmao. A lot of these sound like stories I would overhear in the studio.

Two-plus hours of drinking and interruptions can be a bit much. As people have mentioned, the guest makes all the difference. I couldn't make it through the Capone & Gunplay episode.

Yup. The Kweli episode had me laughing!!!! Him and Dave Chappelle used to mess with the same girl.... LOL!!!! I really like Drink Champs.
I like Drink Champs. I wish Taygravy would take a moment from touring to bring back Gordon Gartrell though!!!! (HINT, HINT Tiggalo!!!! -- but I know he's a very busy man these days).
Also, the Music Snobs have been a little too quiet for my taste, they need a new episode.
