"What are some quality intellectually simulating websites?"
I need a few mentally stimulating sites that I can go hangout and read something that's not on the common HuffPo, FB, gossip, political and nonsense level. Sometimes the dude just wants to learn something worth while.
If you think it’s a waste of time to just browse on the internet, nah-ah. Siddharth Kapoor got 15 websites on Quora which could help us all be productive when spending time on the internet. Here’re the websites you need to know:
www.vocabulary.com – The quickest, most intelligent and fun way to improve your vocabulary.
www.coursera.org – Coursera is an education company that partners with the top universities and organizations in the world to offer courses online for anyone to take, for free.
www.spreeder.com – It’s a free online speed reading software designed to improve your reading speed and comprehension.
www.lumosity.com – A simple online tool to allow anyone to achieve their brain’s full potential. No matter what your age or background is, you can feel smarter, sharper, and brighter.
www.ted.com – Watch videos of TED conferences which bring together the world’s most fascinating thinkers and doers, who are challenged to give the talk of their lives (in 18 minutes or less).
www.freerice.com – Is a non-profit website run by the United Nations World Food Program. It’s essentially a vocab challenge that donates rice to the needy with every question you get right.
www.stumbleupon.com – It is a discovery engine (a form of web search engine) that finds and recommends web content to its users. Its features allow users to discover and rate Web pages, photos, and videos that are personalized to their tastes and interests using peer-sourcing and social-networking principles.
www.howstuffworks.com – A wholly owned subsidiary of Discovery Communications, is the award-winning source of credible, unbiased, and easy-to-understand explanations of how certain things actually work. From car engines to search engines, from cell phones to stem cells, and thousands of subjects in between, HowStuffWorks has it covered.
www.flipkart.com – Log on to an online book store like this and find a new book to grab to read.
www.goodreads.com – If you’re a bookish then visit this world’s largest site for readers and book recommendations. You can build your virtual bookshelf here.

good stuff. it is needed.
the key to happiness is not being rich; it's doing something arduous and creating something of value and then being able to reflect on the fruits of your labor

www.brainpickings.org Added on Facebook so I would have something stimulating in my feed. There's a good range of stuff posted on this site. The worst of it is still pretty damn good.
The Shots of Awe page on YouTube/Facebook is interesting, too. This is less varied, though. Videos of a smart and insightful cat (who has seemingly done a whole lot of acid in his lifetime) ranting about stuff. Worth checking a few videos out, at least.
Pardon any bugs, etc. I was hoping to launch it later this week, but given recent events, it seemed like the right time. We put together a special section on the Alton Sterling killing, as well: http://theserendibite.com/alton-sterling-complete-coverage/
We're open to feedback, criticisms, ideas, etc., so feel free to let me know your thoughts. Thanks.
