2nd: Download ES File Explorer, I don't know for sure, but it might allow you to browse more folders than the stock file browser (if LG's even have one). Maybe there's a deleted folder ? Also I know ES has it's own photo explorer too....maybe it can scour your phone and find all photos everywhere?

thanks.

edit

actually, I did try the trial version of this. it only found 300 of the files. the trial version is supposed to at least show you the files that the paid version can recover.

I used a diff app, recuva. it found all the files and put them in the right folder structure. but the pics aren't viewable.

the good thing is that the files are still there. I'll check out the file viewer that you suggested.

it would be nice if devices had a recycle bin. I bet there's an app for that.

There are several online automatic backup solutions for desktops too.
I use Google Photos, and ThisLife https://www.thislife.com/

sufficient if you have a ton of pics/videos. if you want to keep off the cloud, then get portable hard drive. the bigger, the better.

keep in mind, they can die too. cloud is likely the way to go in addition to your own personal hard drive.
