It won't solve everything but a local prosecutor who has a close relationship with the local police simply can't effectively prosecute these crimes. We've seen it over and over and we have to do something about it.

There IS a presidential candidate who supports US Attorney prosecutions of police violence....just saying. Not that he can necessarily get it done but still.

I don't agree with the decision, but Thompson played it smart when he let it be known publicly that he didn't want Liang to do any jail time. Helped to soften the blow dealt by the judge's ruling.

if the judge ignored him had he pushed for hard time, he still would have looked good - people would appreciate that he pursued justice to the very end. anyone who would have been upset at him being that hard wouldn't hold a grudge for too long b/c in the end they got what they wanted

This was the killing that really looked like an accident. Dude is still negligent because he didn't apply aid or call for the ambulance right away so I wouldn't feel sorrow if he went away, but this wasn't Eric Garner. That said, someone lost their life. How do you rectify that?
