So I was reading this on reddit:
"I'm half white, half Native American. For the most part, I'm racially ambiguous. Some people think I'm white, some think I'm Latino, some think I'm part white part black, and most think that I just look like I'm a straight up light skinned Native. I'm from a pretty redneck part of Canada, so hearing that I'm a freeloader, a drunk, squaw, or a drug addict is infuriating, but not surprising. What pisses me off is the sudden change in attitude when someone finds out I'm native. For example, the other day I was buying some shoes at the mall, and the cashier was asking for my name and email address because I could get a 10 percent discount. She's being friendly, courteous, smiling, and suddenly when I give my last name that all stops. Face drops, tone suddenly shifts. Great, I have another asshole who thinks I'm gonna rob, or stab her because my last name is Buffalo Horn (not my real last name but it is similar.) I just pay for my shit and leave."
And I was wondering...what if dude just straight up said
"We were good before you found out I was native...what happened? Whats wrong with you?"
would they deny deny deny or just get angry because NO ONE wants to be racist?
Have you ever called that shit out in real time?
Im always in wait mode and when the real real racist shit goes down its always when my guard is down and I'm not thinking about it....which is the worst shit ever because you end up just thinking about the shit you shoulda said. *********************************************************** https://soundcloud.com/swageyph/yph-die-with-me
