As fucked as the USA is, we are light years ahead of alot of the people we fear in terms of progressive Ideals. And Ideals and ideas are ultimately the most power force in history.
The trick out in my mind is that the bammas who say "they hate our freedom" are actually right, but those bammas hate our freedom to.
