"what's your daily commute like to your job? "
Wed Mar-16-16 10:25 AM by SeV

I might be accepting a job thats going to be a 45-50 min commute to and from work.

I'm kinda dreading that shyt

My commute now is 10 mins

I be coming home for lunch taking naps on my couch n shyt

The most I've ever traveled to work was about 20-25 mins away

Hope these gas prices stay low

Oh yea preemptive fuk u for those that work from home..

5 minutes looking for parking
4 min walk to train station
45 min train ride
4 min walk to work

1hr 10mins total

-The Knicks’ coaching search still includes a lone frontrunner, Kurt Rambis, whose qualifications for the position include a strong relationship with Jackson and a willingness to take the job.

I'm more or less used to it, but on days I'm hungry or tired or in a bad mood it's awful.

I used to work 20 minutes from home and I'd go home for lunch too.

West Hollywood to Santa Monica usually takes just under an hour. On the way home has been up to 2 hours on really bad days but usually an hour to 75 mins.

Our office moves in like 7 months to a place it'd take me less time to walk than it does to drive to work now.

My commutes were 1:15-1:30 depending on traffic. I got to listen to so much music and stayed up on current events more by listening to NPR.

Now that I work from home I don't listen to as much music and if a newsworthy event wasn't posted here I prolly don't know about it.

I work long hours and try to work at odd times to avoid the rush hours.

God forbid there's any weather at all (like this morning and the tiny overnight dusting) and these idiot drivers act like precipitation is goddam Godzilla running amok.

Then I pay to park like six blocks farther away because it's a lot cheaper.

I dunno how long this can last.

i still blame hip-hop.

My work pays for it. The worst part is the uber but I actually like the train. Quiet 35 mins before the work day starts.

I'm glad I don't drive

My commutes were between 1hr and 1.5/1.75 hrs. For the last three years is was 1.5hrs minimum one way.

I live roughly 4 or 5 miles from the job, but that last mile is through a very congested corridor. There's a high school, a university, two hospitals and a large government facility all within a half mile stretch.

The morning and afternoon rushes are gridlock, so if I don't get out ahead of them, that 10-15 can easily turn into 30-40. That's the frustrating thing, knowing that you are literally minutes away from home, but you're just sitting in traffic.

I'd like to ride my road bike to work more, but the 7.5 miles through the city is just far enough that I jump on the motorbike most days. Nothing beats the freedom of riding a bike and not having to deal with 95% of traffic issues.

Do a Waze or Google maps search WITH traffic, to and fro, rush hour, and you're getting 17-25 minutes as the most typical result.

Takes me about ten min to get to the 105, either Crenshaw or Prarie, then 7-10 min to get inside my parking garage.

I'm going against most traffic. Only traffic is riiiight where the 405 traffic combines n gets to the 105 West, and that's for the Nash and then Sepulveda (airport) exit. Before that bottleneck, it's zero hassle.

Going home, hopping on the 105 to the 405 north tunnel gets me to the manchester/Florence exit in like 5-7 minutes max. Florence or Manhhester to my house can be 12-20 minutes or so based on rush hour traffic.

So yep.

With bad traffic it can take up to an hour and half to get there. The way home can be worse, depending if there's an accident (like yesterday).

This is my college commute... I don't have a job yet

I take a 30 + min bus ride to the train station, then a 12 to 30 min train to the 2nd train station, then the second train goes from 40-70 mins, then a ~ 15 min shuttle to campus. All of these times vary by the day.

I only travel on Tuesdays and Friday's, thank god, otherwise FUK going to college lmao (well I say this every day anyway)

Gotta get up at 5 am so I can eat breakfast but I usually get up at like 6:30 because I got sleeping problems. Tuesday's I get home at like 9pm.

This is y I hate Tuesdays now

It takes longer going home because the shuttle to my school and my 1st train aren't in sync. So I end up waiting a longer time for the train. And after I get to the station, the wait for the 2nd train is up to 30 minutes, depending.

I hate this but I'm dealing.

7.5 miles each way

I come home all the time at lunch too

Used to do the 60 min each way and it was killing me

Tons of miles on my car, stopping for gas twice a week and this was when gas was going way up

I did it for 2 years until my wife got out of school and then we moved closer to my job and she found something in the same city

It was the worst when it snowed and I had to drive all that way on the highway

I'd keep seeing semis flipped over

Those days would be 1.5-2 hrs

I wouldn't do it unless the pay is substantially more or it was a much better job

I just learned to deal with it. I chose to live where I live and work where I work. What helps is going against traffic(except midway) and listening to music and podcasts. Going home is a 45 min-1hr drive home, depending on freeway closures, accidents, etc.

Current commute: 10 min walk each way
Proposed commute: ~2hr drive each way

Situation: I work in a small town with little to no culture, entertainment, nightlife, etc. But just "down the road" is a big city with everything I want.

I only have to physically be at my work location two days a week (3 days on rare occasions, probably once a month).

In my mind, I'm thinking doing that drive twice a week wouldn't be too terrible. But on the other hand, I feel like I'm underestimating it.

77. "8 hour drive, one way"
In response to Reply # 0

I drive to work, then work for 8 hours, then drive home and instantly repeat the cycle, 5 days a week. Then I sleep 48 hours on Saturday and Sunday. Nah, I'm bullshitting. But it is an hour, ten minutes by train, or 20-25 minutes by lyft, one way.
