"Vinyl heads... Who will you leave your record collection to?" Sat Mar-05-16 09:31 PM by Sarah_Bellum
So I'm working on my will and I was thinking I want to give my collection to someone who will at least know what they are getting. (Note: this will hopefully occur 50-60 years from now.) I have a feeling if something happens to me before then my family will sell them off to some bulk buyer for $500 because they don't know what they are sitting on. I also don't want to burden anyone with 1500 records who doesn't want them. I haven't had a hard time divying up anything else but this. Who are your records going to go to if you die or do you plan to sell them all off while you're spry? ___________________________________________________________

I thought about this in some sense once, can't remember why, but I used to think there are people I know who would appreciate something from my record collection, not the type to want the whole thing but would take a certain discography or something. I know nothing about making wills, and some of it would probably be kinda random in the case of us dying, but like there are some random people I remember particularly because of some music they also liked, and I'd just imagine them getting something from me after I die all randomly. Would probably get complicated, and be too many people to think up.

If I pass before my wife, I told her to sell them if she needs the money, but the Prince, MJ, Parliment, EWF, Al Green, and Stax records are off limits. More will be added, but those may go with me to the grave.

Hopefully it's not a burden for someone.
I wish I had been smart enough to ask for my uncle's stuff when he passed away. I got my first drum machine and was like, "Hey, where'd all that stuff go?" and my grandpa just gave it away, to another dude who died. I don't know where that shit is, now.
