My take was that most of these are not worn in the North too often, but he tells me not only does he plan on wearing them often but that there are plenty of people in NYC and NJ wearing them. I do not believe that 20 and 30 somethings wear these, but I may be wrong.

I'm sure there are more boutique brands that cost more than that, but generally really good mens' shoes can be had for $200-$600 if one shops around and finds sales. I'm thinking of full-grain leather shoes, however. I have no clue how "exotic" materials affect the cost.
The only $1k shoes I'd buy would be something custom made, and I had money to burn.
