"Toronto OKP's I have a Carabana question..."
I'm going for the first time this year and I'm looking at spots on AirBnB. Where exactly is the main location for the festival? I'm looking to stay downtown Toronto but I want to make sure it's not too far from the festivities.
the actual parade takes place on lakeshore blvd (south of liberty village) and goes around exhibition place (also on map). Staying in liberty village or somewhere on queen street west would be close enough in proximity. Queen street west is a semi-hip part of town.
Staying at the Sheraton is for thots, young Americans who think they coming here to run shit and get smalled up, Its basically like a big frat house. If you coming with family its prob not the spot you wanna be at. If you got some money go to The Drake Hotel or find an AirBNB way from but / close enough to everyone in town for the festivities.
I've noticed that in general. You almost wonder how hotels are staying in business nowadays. You can get a nice condo with a full kitchen and way better furnishings for the same price as a basic hotel room. I planned a trip to Montreal last year that never happened.....but I was amazed by what the bnb's had to offer.

You can be in the middle of things*
..and I'm not just saying that cause I have three airbnb apartments LOL (I can inbox links if interested)
To be in the middle of things you kind of don't want to stay anywhere more north than bloor st. No more east than like jarvis and no more west than Dufferin and as for south..you can stay on (or near) the lakeshore (which is where the parade is and SOME events but I wouldn't recommend it for a first time unless you really want to stay in a condo-style space ..youre just a bit removed for the "real" downtown core. Those ^^ parameters cover a huge space all transit accessible so you should be able to find something suitable.
Its early yet so most places on airbnb may not even have their "caribana rates" up yet so I would move quick to take advantage.

Would be about a 45 minute commute. Rosedale is a rich neighborhood that's just outside the border of the downtown core.
I don't think you really NEED to be close to the parade. The other stuff going on at night is kinda scattered throughout the city anyways. So if you found a great deal/place you like I don't see much reason not to stay there. But you'll have to take a subway and then streetcar/bus to get to the parade.
You're not gonna want to drive there....even if you rent a car. Parking and traffic will be a nightmare. Keep in mind....it's not like the parade takes place in a west-indian community. So all the west-Indians in TO have to commute there too. That's why I don't think it's necessary to be too close to the parade.
You would get on at Rosedale station....take it to Union station....then hop on a streetcar to go southwest to the parade. It would be a much longer drive than 17 minutes during Carabana. the subway will be full of revelers and will be fun in it of itself.
